Twice a year, designers and shop owners from all over trek to a quaint little town in North Carolina called High Point. It’s a huge production – literally MILES of showrooms full of furniture and lighting and rugs and accessories. It’s a designer’s heaven! Sadly, you can only attend if you are in the trade, but I have some photos to share with you from my fall market trip! I also spoke on a Domino/Chairish panel and got to run into some old friends while I was there. (Caitlin has a new shop in San Francisco and her new products are BEAUTIFUL!). It was a super fast, but super inspiring couple of days.
(last minute shoe purchase that saved my life! Only comfy shoes at market from here on out!!)
My favorite showroom is always, always Hickory Chair. The spaces are airy and elegant, but grounded and real. I always spend the most time in Suzanne Kasler’s collection. I was also loving the new collection with Susan Hable from Hable Construction, inspired by Midcentury and Scandinavian designs.
Some other favorite showrooms were Natural Curiosities, Palacek, and Noir Furniture.
It was also such a treat to swing into the Magnolia Home Collection by Joanna Gaines. (Are you watching the new season of Fixer Upper?) Their space at market was absolutely gorgeous! Somehow they managed to transform a super boxy corporate showroom into a charming farmhouse! I love her new rug collection with Loloi and her kids furniture line is to die for.
I use Visual Comfort/Circa a lot with my client work so it is always fun to see all of their products, new and old, in one big space at market. The Thomas O’Brien and AERIN collections never, ever disappoint!
Arteriors is another lighting source go-to. I got my entry chandelier from them and I love all the unique, modern shapes they consistently produce!
I wish I could just hand you my phone so you could flip through all the product goodness I found during my three-day treasure hunt! What are you looking for? For shades I use The Shade Store and Lowes bamboo and for curtains I usually have them made locally, but Restoration Hardware and Loom Decor are great options. Hope that helps! xo

Love those acrylic box “frames”! I’m guessing those are a custom thing? Any idea how to DIY something like that?
Those frames are from Natural Curiosities, but my local framer makes similar ones too. I think the tricky part is the adhesive on the corners! This might be one that I would leave for the professionals!

I agree with you Tracy! I think this one is better for the more tucked away spots in your house. You can tell it’s fake up close!

I just put VC lighting all through a new addition on our home and I’ve got to say I’m really disappointed in the quality of their shades. It’s been less than 6 months since install and I’ve already had to have the shades replaced on the sconces in my bedroom because the paper was pulling away from the backing and causing a bubbling effect. Double checked the wattage on the bulbs to make sure that wasn’t the issue and it wasn’t, they’re just blah paper shades on otherwise impressive looking fixtures. Do you every change them for custom shades? I’m considering it but choke a bit at thinking of spending more money on already expensive pieces.

I have to agree with you here! I’ve had trouble with their paper shades before. We just switch to a lower wattage and buy some replacement shades from VC. Not ideal, but I’ve have the same problem with paper shades from other sources as well – I think it is common. There are some great custom shade sources on etsy if you’re looking for something on the more affordable side! xo
