The older I get, the more I LOVE Thanksgiving. Somehow the holiday always sort of expands and stretches the whole length of the week, and other than the food prep and maybe some lightweight decorating, there are absolutely no strings attached. Just a lot of relaxing and sleeping and moving-watching and sweater-wearing. And the eating, of course.

We take our Thanksgiving meals pretty seriously around here and I think we have a pretty perfect menu nailed down.

We just got back to Arizona after spending a few glorious weeks in New York. I love and miss that city so much. We saw great friends, ate delicious foods, and walked more than we’ve walked here in a year (sad to say it – that needs to change!).

We watched fireworks on the 4th at Brooklyn Bridge Park right on the water with the skyline and Lady Liberty as the backdrop.

It’s the weekend! What are you up to? If you were here, Evie would tell you a knock-knock joke and sing you a song from Annie, two of her specialties.

Michael and I haven’t been home and available to really work on the house together for a couple weekends, so we are planning to do nothing but stay here and finish up projects. I am so excited! The floors are looking great and the trim is really starting to come together.

2013 is rocking us a little. Michael and I have been working like dogs. We definitely had a weekend’s worth of work to do, but when Saturday morning rolled around and the sun was shining  and spring was calling, we decided to throw work to the curb and hit the streets.

We ended up at the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Gardens, where we were able to catch the blossoms in full bloom. 

Catching blossom petals before they hit the ground is good luck in our family.
