Today’s round up is dedicated to one of my favorite tricks for decorating a living room – the tall round table and big lamp combo! Rather than matching side tables, use a tall round table as a side table instead, with something shorter on the opposite side. Pairing the tall table with an oversized table lamp is pretty much the ideal combo. It adds height and interest and is a fun, easy way to mix up your living room without breaking te bank if you need a little change. I find myself using this trick in most of our living room projects lately!

We’ve rounded up a few tables that really work for pulling off this look. The trick is using a table that is 29-31″ tall and at least 30″ in diameter. Much wider than 40″ looks a little too big, but anywhere in between usually looks juuuuust right!

Here are some of our favorite table lamps on the market right now. I usually prefer something chunky and wide to tall and skinny. And if I’m using a leggy table, I try not to use a leggy table lamp. I reserve those for chests of drawers or nightstands.
Love this!! I have been looking for an oversized table for my living room since your overstock living room reveal. We have a bit of an awkward room, the fireplace isn’t symmetrically located and there are four entry points to the room. And this is a perfect solution for one corner!
Any idea on how kid safe a tulip style table is?? It looks beautiful and great for minimal head bashing from inevitable falls (anyone else’s kids LOVE walking purposefully blindfolded?) but I don’t want to fret about my young boys tipping it on themselves. This just happens to be the most convenient room to watch them not too closely while making dinner/doing laundry/hosting.
Hi Carmen! I don’t have any first hand experience with these tables tipping over, but it seems like it would be a major problem if they did. I bet you’ll be okay!
I really love it! It looks cozy, simple and stylish. I have so many books and gave me few nice ideas… It was a must to save it in my pinterest board “home decor” isn’t it ? xoxo
Love this! Our living room is pretty tiny, but I essentially did the same thing with a small dresser. I just pulled it from another room on a whim, tucked it in the corner with a plant and a lamp on it, and it totally changed the room.
I have read so many content about the blogger lovers except this article is really a nice piece of writing,
keep it up.
I am very amazed to see this food, this how to make it? is there a complete video on how to make it?
