Friday! Here we are again! This week we are releasing four new prints and they all have a moodier, Pacific Northwest feel to them, which I know a lot of you were asking for. These new prints also play really well off of each other and would look great grouped together in a gallery wall (another thing so many of you have been asking for!).  :)

Also a big heads up – In two weeks we will be raising the prices of just our special artist collaboration prints from $15 to $20 – all of my own originals (the bulk of the shop) will stay at the $15 price. This will help us to better support our contributing artists, (so they will want to share some of their best work with us!). Beth Allen is releasing a second abstract with us this week (this beauty is called AUGUST) and it will be at the $15 price for the next two weeks before getting bumped up to the new artist’s pricing – so snag it while it’s heavily discounted! :)

ASPENS

ASPENS is another new print, and I can’t tell you how much I love this one. I took this photo in one of my favorite places – a part of our state that feels completely secret and totally removed from the world. It is insanely remote and quiet and peaceful and I hope this print conveys that feeling to you too!

FERNS

FERNS is going to be so helpful for those of you looking to round out your gallery wall collections! That bright pop of green color and all the small scale texture in those beautiful little leaves! You will love the fine details in this one.

WATER

WATER was taken at sunset on a little inlet off Malibu beach in California. I’m imagining this one blown up REALLY HUGE for over a fireplace or a sofa. It really could work so well in any space! The colors are that perfect spot between moody and peaceful. Have I already picked a favorite print? Because this one is also my favorite. :)

I’m so excited that these are completely different from our other prints! I hope you LOVE them as much as I do!! Now, which one(s) is your favorite??

I have been getting a lot of questions about my hair and how I style it. I hope it wasn’t as awkward to read that last sentence as it was to write it. :) :) I figured rather than spend my office hours individually responding to your DMs about my hair and makeup, I could throw a couple of my (amateur) tips into our Love Notes posts? Well, here goes nothing!

IMG_4746

My #1 top hair tip (besides investing in a REALLY good cut and color once a quarter – I go to Chrissy at Habit Salon in Gilbert) is USE THIS DRY SHAMPOO! It has been my secret weapon for about five years now and allows me to go four or five days between washings and my hair has never been longer or healthier (despite all the coloring Chrissy does to it!:) It’s a powder, so I put some in my hands and rub it all through my roots before I go to bed and when I wake up in the morning, I just run my favorite (very cheap, very good) hairbrush through my hair a few times and I’m all ready to go!

I use this (also very cheap) 1.5″ barrel curling iron to curl my hair the day I wash it and with the help of the blow pro dry shampoo, my loose curls (truly) stay for days! This routine has saved me SO MUCH TIME over the years! And I actually like my hair on days two and three the best anyway! :) Days four and five start to get a little rough and that’s when I use my French Luxe tortoise clips that so many of you have asked about, to hold my hair back in two braids or to the side with a far side part. I also keep this amazing-smelling spray dry shampoo around to give my hair a little texture if it needs it when my hair is freshly washed and almost too-clean/soft!

The best dry shampoo you will ever find  //  tortoise hair pins  //  1.5″ curling iron  (I like this better than a curl stick!) //

Oribe hairspray (smells like heaven)  //  Treseme hairspray  (I know people claim Elnett is the best, but I think this one is!) //  brush  (safely detangles and the bristles add shine!)  //  shampoo & conditioner (Chrissy recommended this brand to me. Yes, it is pricier, but when you’re only washing your hair twice a week, it lasts FOREVER and has literally changed the look and feel of my hair. So much less straw-like now! :)

We are working on our new studio kitchenette and things are really starting to come together! Don’t worry – I’ve got a big post coming up with all the details! :) We are working with Lucent Lightshop to design a small lighting line together. We had a meeting about it a few weeks ago, where we shared inspiration images and talked sizes and finishes. It’s all going to be SO good you guys! One of the images that we talked a lot about was this one from the Ostrich Farm restaurant in LA. We are working on something similar for our studio kitchen, where the bulb is exposed and two sconces are mounted right next to each other. I can’t wait for this to start coming together! :)

Did you get your new IKEA catalog in the mail?? We just got ours and we are bookmarking all of our favorite new things!

BRWD80F996754CB_000035

This is such a great wall unit, especially for the price!! It is totally customizable too, which is great if you have a huge blank wall that needs filling up!

How good are the lines on this mirror?? It also comes in a standing floor version, but the small one would be especially pretty on a vanity.

I am loving some of these wood accents and those blue watercolor plates! Going to have to go check those out in person!

We still love this sideboard and have considered using them in the studio. The wood tone is so beautiful in person! Have you seen it?

And of course we can’t forget to mention our absolute favorite new item, this rattan cabinet. We are still patiently waiting for our local store to get some back in stock…

  1. I flipped out over that Ikea wall unit! It’s so good!

Are you still working out at 5am everyday? Because I have such trouble keeping my hair looking good for days when I’m working out consistently. I style my hair exactly the same as you and tried to go without washing this week and I had to try to blow dry my sweat (ew?) and re curl most days to get it back to looking good after working out.

    1. Still working out! But I don’t get crazy sweaty most days (mostly weights work and quick HIIT). I totally blow dry out sweat and reapply dry shampoo! :)

  2. Love this post! So fun to read your hair tips too! I have a question- I have a really long upstairs hallway (one side is open to the living room below – it’s a 70s house) that I want to hang picture ledges (I’m dying to buy some of your prints!) I bought 4 long IKEA ledges. Is it too much to hang them two on top and two on bottom? I searched Pinterest and it was surprisingly hard to find styling ideas for them.

  3. My hair routine is insanely long and I wash EVERY DAY. I’ve known for a long time that I need to cut it out, but I can’t take the plunge. Your product tips here may do the trick! Tell me I’ll get past the icky feeling as my hair gets used to less washing!!! How do you navigate the shower? Do you use a shower cap then just dry the hairline?

    1. Hi Ella! I don’t worry about a shower cap – just throw my hair up in a top knot. It usually doesn’t really get wet at all! The dry shampoo + the living proof spray really gives a clean feeling and smell! I used to be the same but it really has helped my fine hair to be more healthy! :)

  4. can’t wait for the beauty update!!! I’m loving your color, if your stylist is up for it, I’d love to know the knitty gritty of your color formula to rinse and repeat!

Congrats on all your success with the new studio, print shop and workouts!

  5. I fell in love with dry shampoo until the powder didn’t disappear completely and looked like I had dandruff. Thank you for sharing the one you use – hopefully this is what I’m looking for! Thanks!
