Last week we posted our orthodontist office reveal and we got a bunch of questions about the leather sofa we used in the space. This one was custom made from Monarch Sofas, but it got us thinking about all of the other amazing leather sofas readily available online! We are especially loving camel right now, but there are so many great options in mid-tone brown, black and even gray. Here are some projects we’ve done in the last year using leather sofas and our round up of currently-available favorites!

  1. I’ve had my eye on the same sofa you showed from Article (it was in your living room in the 2nd shot) but I’ve been nervous to order a sofa without test driving my tushie on it. Is it comfortable? More importantly can I sit for hour binge watching TV on it…

      1. Can anyone speak to the sturdiness of this sofa? It’s beautiful and I am on the hunt for 2 for my great room, but those tiny legs make me nervous. I have 4 kids, 3 of which are boys and I am concerned it wouldn’t withstand the use it will get in my house.

  2. I have the Turner sofa from Pottery Barn, and after 3 years the back cushions on either end of the sofa have become permanently crunched. We lean on those cushions a lot while sitting on the sofa, far more than the one in the middle obviously, but it just looks terrible! Any advice for how to reshape those cushions? The inner feather/foam cushion is still nice and cushy, just misshaped.

  3. I have the Axel Sofa from West Elm–the longest one. I was a little skeptical of the quality but it’s happily surprised me. Nothing is sagging after a year of sitting on it every night. It was a little stiff at the beginning but it loosened up a bit. We have a large goldendoodle who loves to jump on it and sit on it all day so it has some scratches in the leather, but I’m calling that “patina”. :-)

    1. Hi Tricia,

That’s really good to hear. I have fabric sectional from West Elm and we’ve been pretty disappointed in the quality. You can tell that the cushions aren’t made of a really nice insert material and they are really misshapen after a year of sitting on them. I’m in the market for a leather sofa and I like the one from West Elm (especially the price point) but man, I’m gun shy.

I’m really curious about the quality of the Article leather sofas. Does anyone have any feedback on those?

    2. This is GREAT feedback, Tricia! We haven’t used the Axel yet, but that Hamilton is definitely awesome! Linus scratches our Article sofa too and I think after a couple months it really does look like patina, not just dog scratches! Ha! Also that leather conditioner I linked to really helps. :)

      1. Hey Jenny,

What leather conditioner have you used? And was the Article sofa from West Elm? We just got the Axel and I love it, but want to make sure I am protecting/caring for it. We too have large pups who scratched it the first day lol!

  4. I have the Article Nirvana (#32) in Dakota Tan (other color available) and am OBSESSED. It looks prettier in person (very rustic modern) and is really comfy. The cushions have down in them so you have to periodically fluff but I like that they won’t ultimately end up with a permanent sag in them like the Room and Board sofa we replaced. It was impossible to find pictures of it that weren’t Article’s marketing photos when I bought–opportunity for designers to use a leather couch that isn’t in design pictures all over the internet:)

    1. This is AWESOME feedback, Kara!! Thank you! If you take some photos, please tag us in the comments! We’d love to see! xo

  5. Love this!! Also ordered the gray-blue rug for our Florida rental’s master bedroom!! Can’t wait to see it in person! Thanks for the recommendation. Also got a BIG one for $175 after some coupons (thanks Honey)!

  6. Jenny, I noticed that the rug you linked from your living room appears slightly different than the one in your picture, is it just similar? I really love the look of how it is aged/vintage, but in just want to avoid that pixelated look you see in affordable rug options sometimes. Thank you so much for your feedback, I love your aesthetic and I’m stoked for the new print you are releasing next week that you previewed in your insta-stories, gorg!!

  7. I’m desperate for a leather conditioner for my West Elm Axel loveseat. However I noticed the link for conditioner takes me to a leather cleaner. Is that correct? By the way, I LOVE my Axel. Gorgeous buttery leather and so comfortable! Thank you!!

  8. Hi Jenny! I LOVE the black sofa in the 5th pic with the cb2 coffee table – i know you noted the pottery barn sofa but it seems to be different than the one you used – do you remember where it was from?

    1. Hi Laura! We had that sofa custom made through a trade source. You can get similar one at Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware! Monarch Sofas also makes custom sofas at a more affordable price point. :)

      Thanks!
