Porch Makeover with Rejuvenation

If you’ve been a longtime reader, you know that we use this side entrance to our house more than our front door. It ends up being a place where we congregate often while chatting with the FedEx delivery guy or our neighbors while the kids ride bikes around the culdesac. Here’s what it looked like…

If you’ve been a longtime reader, you know that we use this side entrance to our house more than our front door. It ends up being a place where we congregate often while chatting with the FedEx delivery guy or our neighbors while the kids ride bikes around the culdesac. Here’s what it looked like when we first moved in before we did an exterior makeover:

And here’s what our side porch looks like today! I partnered with Rejuvenation to show you some of my favorite outdoor (and indoor!) pieces and I LOVE how just a few of their beautiful products have completely transformed this space we use so much.

A few months ago, our old exterior sconce kicked the bucket and even started to fall off the wall! Yikes! It was a good excuse to give this whole area a mini makeover.

I found this Matte Cream sconce on the Rejuvenation site and fell in love with the clean lines and the shallow enamel shade. We had an electrician come and switch out the sconce and we were all enamored (and I couldn’t get those dead gardenia bushes out of there fast enough!).

I went to Lowes and asked the guy in the nursery department to help me find something that would survive the full south facing sun, in the middle of the hottest part of the summer! It was a tall order, considering I asked for something colorful and pretty, but this Texas Sage they recommended looks beautiful and can withstand the hottest temperatures and long spells of drought!

I am OBSESSED with these white and terracotta planters and stands! They are so modern and sculptural!

The nursery guy also recommended this dark purple sweet potato vine. Doesn’t it all look SO pretty with the indoor/outdoor rug from Rejuvenation?

I also added these metal house numbers on our door and I love how they are tonal on our black painted door!

  1. Love the makeover! I live in Texas and will totally vouch for those sage plants! Mine were in the ground when I moved in and I haven’t laid a finger on them in 3 years and they’re still thriving even through our hot summers. You’ll be so happy with them!

    1. That is the BEST news, Erin! We have some sage in our hardscaping and I love it! Glad to hear it’s hard to kill! :)

    1. Thanks Charisse! The house color is Desert Twilight by Benjamin Moore. The door is Iron Black and the trim is Chantilly Lace. xo

  2. Thanks for this! We’re about to move full time into our Tempe house and one of my first tasks is to add some color outdoors. It’s all very beige right now… :(

  3. Jenny, you just share the best stuff. Thanks for including us in all of your small and large renovations. Not mentioned in the post (as it really wasn’t included anyways) is the trellis. You are always great at creating a good DIY or knowing where to get what. Did you make those trellises or did you find them online? Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi Becky! The trellis was on the house when we bought it. Wish I could help you with the sourcing, but thank you for your kind words! xo

  4. Love the bed and wicker chair; those are like my dream bedroom decor.

Non-decor question: where did you get your sandals from in the first picture? They’re so cute, and I love that they look like they have a really thick sole.

  5. I love everything about this!!! Can you tell me what color you used to paint your front door? I have been agonizing over the correct black and sheen for our front door and yours looks perfect!! Thanks so much

  6. I love your porch swing. Please share where I can find it. Been looking for a style like this for forever!

  7. Hi Jenny! I love the exterior paint color of your home. Can you share what color it is?

Thanks for always being so inspiring!

  10. Great post! I loved reading it! We’re strongly considering painting the exterior of our house Desert Twilight and I’m wondering how you like it and more importantly, does it read more as a gray or a green? Thank you in advance for any insight you might able to provide! We are so color-torn. ‍♀️
