Oh Happy Day Studio

I’m still playing catch up on posting about the projects we’ve finished months and months ago! I’m sure you’ve already seen Jordan’s post about Oh Happy Day’s new studio space in San Francisco. I’m still playing catch up on posting about the projects we’ve finished months and months ago! I’m sure you’ve already seen Jordan’s post about Oh Happy Day’s new studio space in San Francisco. Their studio was already a beautiful and playful space and we were lucky to be able to help Jordan design the sitting area.

Jordan loves pattern and color and we were sure to add lots of both in this small space!

We got this giant striped rug from Serena and Lily (it’s only available in yellow now, but here is a similar version) and I think it makes for a great foundation! It’s busy, but not too crazy or too dark. I think I want to snag one for the Gentry master bedroom.

Next up was the furniture. The white sofa was from Article and the yellow sofa and pink chairs were vintage finds that I had reupholstered and we drove over from Phoenix when we installed this space last summer. Check out the before shots on these pieces! The potential was there with the shape but that old fabric had to go!

The brushstrokes fabric is called Arty from Pierre Frey and it was my starting point for fabric choices. It’s only available to the trade and it’s a pricier fabric, so we only got 1.5 yards to use for a small bench. The colors and crazy pattern were PERFECT for Jordan’s studio. Next we found the bright yellow canvas from Pindler that was a great choice for the tufted sofa. Yellow is the Oh Happy Day signature color, so we knew we needed it in this space in a big way. The white sofa and the soft blush linen we chose for the arm chairs (also a Pindler fabric) helped to soften the punchiness of the other pieces.

The Arty fabric bench was a simple DIY. I used these solid brass legs and a piece of plywood that I upholstered with foam and a high loft batting. I used this tutorial for getting super tidy corners! Also if you have an air compressor, I can’t recommend this pneumatic stapler enough!!

I found a great honed marble remnant at my local stone fabricator for a good price and designed a base to fit the stone. My metal guy quickly and affordably made the base for me and I LOVE how it turned out! All the heart eye for this piece.

The balloon art was another fun and simple DIY. Oh Happy Day has an AMAZING party shop and Jordan let us scavenge her party supplies inventory for our favorite balloons. (#bestdayever) We gathered up our favorites and laid them out on white linen we had mounted to vintage picture frame matting. (Very similar to this project!)

We ended up using small dabs of glue to help keep our balloons in the right place, but for the most part, the glass helps to keep everything where it should be. I love the movement and texture in these framed pieces!! :)

If you haven’t gathered this from my print shop already, I love finding ways to get affordable, large scale art up on walls! Projects like this are pretty much my favorite things. :)

Since we completed this project, it’s been fun to watch Jordan systematically taking over the world! ;)  She has her very own party supply line that she and her team designed launching this year and her AMAZING pop-up color experience called The Color Factory in San Francisco is completely SOLD OUT. No one works harder than Jordan and it’s so cool to see her success. We had a blast last summer working with her on this project and just generally getting inspired by her genius and work ethic. I’m so glad she invited us to help!

  1. How beautiful! Nicely done. The balloons as art pieces is such a brilliant idea. I think I’ll shamelessly copycat it…:)

  2. What a fun, colorful space!! I LOVVVVVVVVE those vintage chairs! I probably wouldn’t have minded the velvet but the blush does look really great here. That base with marble remnant is excellent too! Rug ties it all together. Kind of want that rug…haha. :)
