Alt Summit 2012

Just a quick post to say – Alt was A-mazing. Just a quick post to say – Alt was A-mazing. I was so inspired by the keynote speakers (like Pilar Guzman and Deborah Needleman(!!!) and Ben from Pinterest), but I especially loved seeing new and old friends. Gabrielle from Design Mom, one of the geniuses behind Alt, is my hero. I don’t know how she manages to make that conference better and better every year! It probably has something to do with her unending talent and generosity. Love that woman and love that conference!

(PS Here are my notes from last year’s panel on Growing a Blogging Community. I’ll see if I can put together some thoughts from this year’s talk on blogging and owning a design business)

  1. The word amazing, no matter how you spell it, is so last decade and please, for the love of God, choose another adjective for describing things. The word has lost all meaning due to overuse. Your readers' blood pressure depends on it.

  2. I would love it if you put together some notes from this year's conference. I would haved loved to go and being a design blogger and young interior designer I would really love to hear what you had to say from this year's Alt

  3. The most A-mazing thing that ever happened to me in my life was that we got to hang out last weekend……now that I am home though I am going to train my kids to climb mt. Everest in two days..A-mazing but not as amazing as you!!!

  4. I'm definitely still processing everything. Having trouble even starting the recap because there is just so much that could be said. So glad you convinced me to go though!

  5. I'd choose one word to sum you up. AMAZING. Wish I could have been at Alt to learn from you and other talented ladies. What a line-up! In all your free time, perhaps you could give some sources for all your cute outfits. :)

  6. Loved all the pictures and loves seeing some Mesa gals too (Mara and Christina). And I'm pretty sure the only thing making my blood pressure rise right now are these oreos that I'm eating while reading my favorite blogs.

  7. Hahahaha. I'm totally cracking up over that first amazing comment. :)

Thanks for the sweet comments and emails about clothes. I'm no fashionista, but I do love clothes, and I'm all about mixing high and low so maybe I'll start posting more fashion posts in the future?

Black cigarette pants – Gap (I need to check the exact name of these to share with you all because they are my absolute favorite pants. I went and bought a second pair. They're comfy and nicer looking fabric)
    Emerald green blazer – Zara
    Floral blouse – Tucker
    Coral pumps – J crew

Glasses, watch and jewelry – vintage
Polkadot blouse and orange cigarette pants – Zara
    Skinny belt – kate spade

Black silk dress – Bloomingdales a year or two ago, need to look up the designer (Phillip Lim I think). I love that dress!
The glitter belt (which I don't normally wear with the dress – it was a glitter party) is from J Crew.
Shoes not shown are also a new favorite – black leather booties with back zipper tassels

  8. Looks like an AMAZING time. You are such an AMAZING woman. haha

Seriously – do you think Alt is a worthwhile for someone like me (whose primary business isnt her blog nor am I trying to make a fortune from it or promote any other businesses). I would love to meet some of my favorites bloggers and wouldn't mind a little help in making a better blog in general but I feel like a lot of blog events tend to be very commercial and salesy which is not me. Wondering if you had any thoughts on the matter.
