Pillows with Stripes on the Bias

We all know you can buy chevron fabric, but I really relate to the satisfaction that comes with taking on creative endeavors. Guaranteed Shanna will love this pillow longer than if she had purchased the twinkle living pillow or used the Premier Prints fabric. Plus, I love the chunkier scale of the chevron pattern here and I think the quilted/pieced look is fun – looks more like darts or arrows.

There are so many fun ways to piece together striped fabric on the bias. It reminds me of Windsor Smith’s chair in House Beautiful,

Have a great weekend! Go make something!

  1. I saw that patchwork chevron pillow on etsy in navy…what a fabulous idea..love that image from lonny! thanks for sharing the tutorial, Jenny! Hope to see you on my blog someday soon!! have a great weekend!! xx meenal

  2. Chevron is def growing on me….I may need to find a place to work some in! I am just starting out in sewing and would LOVE to be able to make something like that someday.

  3. So cheerful! That pillow cover would also make an adorable/ afordable dog bed a la the Molly Mutt beds. I've been trying to figure out an easy DIY for a chic dog bed cover and this just might be it.
    Great post Jenny!

  4. I just dropped off some red and white stripe ($3.99/yd) from Fabric World in ATL–ooo, that should make it on your directory if it's not on there already–to be made into an asymmetrical chevron pillow for our vacation rental. I hope it turns out! :)

    Love your blog!

  5. LOVE IT! I must admit, not only did I buy the chevron print from premier fabrics (its on a banquette at my kitchen table, shown on my blog- fivestarfinds.blogspot.com), and I also bought the navy and white patchwork pillows on etsy…love them both!

  6. I also really appreciate people giving creative thought to personalize things from big box stores. Sure, the time spent may mean the end cost is equal to or higher than buying something already made, but it's the recognition of cretivity that gets design enthusiasts excited!
