I’m finishing up this year’s Christmas cards and I’m excited about how they are turning out.

I ran into Paper Source a few weeks ago to buy my blank envelopes and some decorative paper. I almost came home with one of these embossers.

For about $30 you get the equipment. For about $30 more you get a personalized plate. The contraption blind embosses paper with your custom image (so it’s bumped out – sort of like braille, although I think you can get in so the text so it presses in, for the letterpressed look).

The lady at Paper Source was trying to sell me on the advantages of a return address plate, but I know better than that. We move so often in this family that I’d be spending the kids’ college fund just to keep the embosser plates current!

A monogram though? That I could definitely justify. I would get some heavy cotton paper and make my own stationary. And every single letter, card and bill I’d mail from here on out would be embossed!

  1. I wish I had cute initials. RV, rVe or R & E just isn't cute enough to justify monogramming. It looks too much like I'm there to sell you a refrigerator.

    jKm is cute though.
