But if you’re willing to front a little bit of an investment, I’d spring for this collection. The colors are STUNNING.

Advice Wanted: Attention Mamas!!

This post has nothing to do with interior design (other than the pretty nursery pics – the design is by Angie Hranosky) and that’s why I’m posting it on a Sunday night. Thanks for letting me get personal here sometimes.

I am quickly approaching 39 weeks. The end of this pregnancy is very near. I had two very, very different labors and deliveries with my other girls. I expect that this one will be equally unique.

SO!! I want to hear your best advice on labor pain management! What worked for you??

My husband and I have started a list of things to try this time:

Bouncing on an exercise ball
Listening to calming music
Walking, Sitting or standing instead of lying in the hospital bed
Hypno-birthing/extreme focus technique

Not so much interested in the bath idea once my water has broken.

Any quick pieces of advice would be greatly appreciated! You guys are the best!

I bookmarked these a year or two ago (I think Jordan posted about them). They’re beautiful and look like just the right multipurpose size.

Ribbon Trim

To make myself feel better, I like to imagine that everyone hoards at least something. Unfortunately, I hoard several somethings. Can’t. Stop. BUYING!

I just love the way ribbon transforms lamp shades, pillows, picture mats and curtains.

Here are some of my picks from a really great trim resource – Renaissance Ribbons.

Plum Taffeta ($2.55 per yard) Love the dot details. There are lots of color options in this style.

I love plaid ($1.15 per yard) for a little boys room or a den.

Red embroidered scroll on linen ($5.35)

There’s orange and navy too

Green poppies ($9.05)

Khaki embroidered medallions on linen ($5.35)

Green leaf ($4.95) looks like it belongs in Lauren’s living room.

Green Chinese Medallions ($4.35)

Pink Floral ($9.60)

Salmon floral ($5.65)

One of my clients is doing her master bedroom in lavender and grays and I’ve been so drawn to the color combo lately… Lavender and gray ($2.45)
Blue wide stripes ($3.80)

Lime flowers on mauve ($3.50/yd) – so cute on some simple sold color panels for a little girl’s room.

This one, too…
Rust mini-flowers ($1.25/yd)

Other places I often look for trim…

M&J Trimmings
trimfabric.com
L&S (especially for Greek key trim)

Do you have any good secret sources for ribbon?

I think a pair would be especially gorgeous in a small master bedroom. Sparkly-sophisticated.

I looked into it a little further and it looks like the cost is about $3 per 10 linear feet! Can’t beat that. I think this project is perfect for a play room or nursery. Check out a few of the google images results:

The countdown is ON! 36 weeks always feels like such a milestone to me.

Yesterday I discovered that self-portraits are impossible to take. Also, I found out at my doctor’s appointment that our little princess has decided not to flip yet. The stinker is still hanging out feet first! I’m not worried about it. If anything, it gives me hope that I’ll squeeze a few more days out of the duration of this pregnancy. As excited as I am to snuggle her when she does come, I know that my life will turn upside down shortly thereafter!

In other news, I bought two car-fulls worth of furniture yesterday for $15. Not joking. I love my Wednesday auction! Here’s load #1. Load #2 is getting picked up this morning.

Lots of stuff for clients, some stuff for my home and even more stuff for my basement. Just cuz.

Also, I’m leaving town today and as a result posting might be a little lighter than usual. I promise I’ll be back in full force after Thanksgiving, rested and ready to knock your socks off!

Have a great weekend!

Adorable Aqua and Red Nursery

The fabric is Alexander Henry’s Country Cross Stitch (available at JoAnn’s and at Purl SoHo). The red trim is 1/4″ bias tape.

The wall color is Baby Bird by Porter Paints.

The crib (and not pictured dresser) are from Wal-Mart’s Baby Mod line, which I’ve used in other client’s projects before. I love the furniture line and so does Cara.
Cara found the adorable vintage chair for $10. It was in pretty bad shape when she bought it!

She had it reupholstered in Fabricut’s Bonomi Chevron in Sky.

Doesn’t it look comfy and perfect for a nursery?

The two pieces of art on the wall are from Etsy sellers. The Stay Calm poster is by sfgirlbybay and ASL poster is from TwoSarahs.

The toddler bed was a $30 resale shop find. Cara sewed the adorable pillow and quilt on the bed.

The white bookshelf is from Target (here’s a similar one). Cara hodge-podged some Martha Stewart paper on the inside back to give it some color.

And check out this mini quilt! Isn’t it adorable? Apparently there are plans to make a whole wall’s worth of different mini-quilts! WOW!

Great job, Cara! And thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!

I spied this little display today and wished I had known about it a few weeks ago. The strips are thinner and more delicate than the decorative moulding pieces available at Home Depot and Lowes. $1.99 for a 24″ length.

Think of all the frames you can fancy up…

Source unknown – Norman something?

Design by Timothy Whealon

I found a vintage crate bed at a used furniture store, complete with a solid wooden headboard, footboard and side rails. The height is a little off, so I am building up the head and footboards with some wooden slats before I upholster the whole thing in this really cool tapestry fabric that I got at my local discount fabric store.

And don’t you worry, there will be lots of nailhead trim for good measure.

I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures for a tutorial later. You guys are going to flip over this bedroom!
