We have a big group of guests coming to stay with us over the holidays and I’ve been hustling to get our girls bedrooms more finished/comfortable in time. I actually sort of love having an excuse to get house projects done! Gracie’s bedroom needed the most help and I feel like we’ve made some good headway this month.
I had my upholsterer recover this old headboard in a pretty light blue velvet that I bought at a local fabric discount store called Boca Bargoons (awesome name, right?). The frame is queen-sized though and Grace has been sleeping on a super old full-sized mattress that didn’t have any support.
We ended up getting another Leesa mattress for her bed because we’ve loved the one in our master bedroom so much. And let’s be honest, the convenience factor was a big one! Is the blue upholstery fabric on the box spring a bed skirt made from the headboard fabric?
The rug underneath is so foundation'al, and like, solid design, that it allows you to 'no rules' everywhere else. A girl-shag-hot-pink rug would have turned the room into hot-mess!

Love the headboard! I'm in terrible need of a matress but haven't found anything with the sort of price range and convenience this company you're talking about is offering. I so wish they would ship to Canada……I would totally pay for shipping and costoms too. I mean, they deliver to Alaska and Hawaii…….I'm closer to their offices than both of these places! Sigh :(
Everything looks so cute! That headboard was an awesome find. I would love to see pictures of the whole bed though to see what is going on with the bottom. It looks like you put more velvet over a boxspring? What about the legs on the bedframe? I am planning my own DIY upholstered bed and still haven't decided what style/technique I want to do. I think at this point I'm third-ing the vote for more info or photos of the bed-skirt situation, which looks like it matches the headboard and strikes me as utterly genius. Did you just attach hairpin legs to a box spring? I have so many unanswered questions! So, I definitely need more photos of this room!
