I’ve been trying hard this year to refocus our family on health and wellness. One thing we recently did that I’m so excited about is jumping on the bento box bandwagon. My kids have never been happier about making and eating their lunches!

We bought these laptop lunchbox cases on Amazon, along with a few other little things to help make the lunches more fun and easier to pack, like this set of reusable cupcake liners and these adorable mini-forks (Evie’s obsessed with the panda one). I also have these tiny shape cutters that are fun for special days or when the girls want to spend extra time making their lunch.

I love how easy it is to add variety to a lunch with these little boxes. The girls love to add a small handful of this and that, and I love that they’re now getting a better mix of fruits, veggies, grains and proteins. And they usually eat all of the small portions, which is more than I can say for our old lunch-packing methods!

We’ve had our NatureBox subscription for a few months now and I love using these delicious snacks in our bento box lunches.

It’s like Christmas when the NatureBox package comes each month. There’s not been one snack yet that my kids won’t devour! The carrot strawberry chews, the fancy dried figs and the PB&J granola go FAST at our house!

I am trying to eat less gluten, so I love that you can select snack choices based on dietary needs on the NatureBox site. They have a really great selection of healthy (and seriously delicious) choices. No artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners ever with these snacks. Evie loves the figs and the blueberry almonds in her lunch as much as I do. (PS how adorable is the little sauce tub? We usually end up using it for hummus or a nut butter).

My Claire is ALL about the dried pineapple and apples and loves all the sunflower seed and roasted chickpea options.

  1. Hi guys! Thanks for the questions about the Bento boxes! Two (actually three if you count the little sauce tub) of the containers come with an additional lid, so if you have something liquid you can lock it up. But I'm surprised at how well everything stays put. The actual top of the lunchbox sits pretty flush against the inner boxes, so nothing really can move around too much.

Also – about the strawberries and waste, we would obviously never throw away any of the fruit in the name of cute flower cut outs! When the girls make these in the mornings, we cut up the strawberries or whatever into slices and they can make the shape and keep the rest of the slice in their lunch too, or most of the time they are just eating the fruit as they go in the morning. We don't do the shapes every day, but the girls (and their friends, I guess) love it.

    xo

  2. Yum! Basically all of the dried fruit looks tasty, and how could I not want those pretzel pops?! Salted caramel? Um, yes please!

  3. I'm very curious – these look beautiful and I love the idea – but by the time the kids get to school, put their bags in their cubby or their lunchboxes in the lunchbox bin, doesn't everything inside get all jumbled together in to a big mess?

And I look at the strawberries cut in to stars and all I can think is $$$$ Organic strawberries are about $7/container here in NY right now and all I can imagine is the "uncute" pieces that are getting thrown away $$$$$ ouch.

  4. At 3pm, I always get a snack craving. Typically, I end up at the vending machine. I would love to have these packs of healthy snacks ready in my desk for that 3 o'clock craving! Since I can never make up my mind between salty and sweet, I would totally go for the salted caramel pretzel pops!!

  5. Thanks for organizing the giveaway! These snacks look amazing…especially the roasted chickpeas and praline pumpkin seeds!

  6. Pistachio power clusters are my favorite! I put the pack in my gym bag so I can snack on my way home and I don't eat them all at once when they first arrive!

  7. Holy moly, those salted caramel pretzel pops look fantastic…

I have a few Japanese bento boxes, but the frustrating thing is that the cutest ones I own are all too small to fit my lunch, because they are designed to fit a child's portion. I always wind up with a cute bento, and then another Tupperware container of snacks on the side!!

  8. I'm pretty sure I would eat any of these snacks, but today I'm feeling the Coffee Kettle Popcorn, Sriracha Roasted Cashews, and Garden Tomato Crunchies.
