So many of you mentioned yesterday that you were dying to get your hands on the Fresh Paint app yourself. Well, here’s your chance! The Fresh Paint team provided me with a tablet with the Windows 8 software, a keyboard dock (making your tablet basically a fully functioning laptop), and a really cool stylus brush to give away so you can create your own masterpieces in Fresh Paint.

(one of my recent Fresh Paint creations – I’m loving this app!)

So to enter to win the tablet, keyboard and brush stylus, please leave a comment on this post, sharing what type of painting projects you’d try with the Fresh Paint app. Abstracts? Portraits? Hoping to import a photo in using the “wet paint” function? Feel free to link to inspiration images. We’d love to see!

***This just in! CanvasPop is throwing in a free 12×18 custom canvas print of your masterpiece as part of the give away. How’s that for sweetening the pot? :)

Contest ends Sunday May 5 at midnight. I’ve opened up the comments to allow for unregistered users. The winner will be emailed so please be sure to leave you email address if you’re not signed in. Good luck!

  1. I would love to try my hand at replicating famous French paintings. Top on my list are Henri Rousseau's works, but doing something of Paul Cézanne's or even of Belgian painter René Magritte's would be great.

  2. I would import some of the landscape photos I have taken on my travels to create my own gallery wall in my home. This app is so fantastic!

  3. I'd love to dabble with abstracts. It's so hard to paint and get everything set up when you are in a small space. This would be so fun!

  4. I would paint with my daughter like we do every chance we get – she likes to paint landscapes full of animals and I like to paint portraits of friends pets! The idea of not having to set up and clean/pick up the oil paints would make it even more fun!

  5. I am a newbie painter so I definitely think importing a photo and starting from there would be an easy way to get my feet wet!

  6. I am sure I would try it all. I have experimented with manipulating images by photographing through textiles and plexiglass, combining them with painting and drawing via photoshop, and physically cutting them up and rearranging them, so am often experimenting. http://ow.ly/kAjF4

This past year I have tried to do more actual painting and have experimented with acrylics. I do like the act of physically making, but I live in a small NYC apartment and projects tend to take over my space, so I find myself working more and more with the laptop. I even took a bunch of close up images recently of paintings at The Met to serve as part of my virtual palette. http://instagram.com/p/V0c7zEggev/ The Windows 8 tablet and Fresh Paint app would definitely allow me to continue to experiment with a lot of my photography and also "painting" without making a big mess everywhere.

That said, I really loved your more personal application. My mother loves to arrange albums of family photos and it would be great to turn some of them into paintings for her to enjoy.

  7. I'm still a beginner artist. I mostly sketch and paint still life, with the occasional venture into landscape. With this tablet, I would especially love to take it on trips and vacations so I could paint landscapes, architecture, and native plants and animals without having to haul all my supplies around!!

  8. Hey, I think I would start with abstract stuff, with great colours. Or maybe recreating natural patterns in paint. I would also love to have a go with uploading a picture – I imagine I could do some fun things with my wedding photos!

  9. I would love to make a painting out of a photo! how fun.

    Thanks, Jenny!

  10. Hi Jenny! This app is new to me. I'm getting it. I see myself using it for abstracts and portraits but it would be fun to play around with all options!

  12. I loved your post about this app and your Grandmother's portrait. Would be thrilled to be able to do this as Christmas gifts for the whole family next year. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the contest.

  13. WOW!!! I would love to paint plants and jungles! All those deep, overlapping, moist green colors would look so amazing on this tablet! Thank you!

  14. While Melloan's concerns are valid, his comparison of the cost of printing those snaps without the deal from Snapfish coupons? Try applying nail art stickerss are the stickerss with which they can stringently put the message across.
custom stickers I really love Print. Custom car stickers are alsoused socially, politically, for sports and for many others things.

  15. I'd paint portraits! Oh, who am I kidding, the first thing I'd paint is my cat.

  16. I would love to be able to paint anywhere in my small house! And I wouldn't have to take over the dining room table for my project.

  17. Oh Jenny this is such fortuitous timing! My dearest friends are all having babies at the moment, so I would use this wonderful prize to create beautiful photo based works (maybe of each new mummy as a school girl) to welcome each new little soul into the world.
