I have some exciting news – I am looking for one or two new interns to add to the Jenny Komenda Interiors/LGN team!
There are some really, seriously exciting things happening right now. I’ve been so grateful for the ad hoc group of helpers I’ve had this year and I’m sad to be losing some who are going away to school. 2012 is going to be a big year, and I’m hoping to find an intern or two who wants to stick it out with me for a few months this fall. The intern positions are unpaid in the beginning, but I’m expecting to be able to take on some full time employees around the new year. There will be lots of perks in the meantime, I promise!
**If you’ve already emailed me in the past year or so about interning, please feel free to email me again. Thanks!**
Here is my ideal candidate (and I expect to be pretty firm on all of these):
1. Lives in NYC and knows how to get around the city by themselves. (Bonus points for smart phone users. I <3 google maps.)
2. Hours: 9 am – 3 pm, but most importantly 12-3 pm. Days can be flexible, but I’m hoping for at least three days a week, if not five.
3. Comfortable with computers and general office technology. MAJOR points if you’re already a blogger or know HTML.
4. A deep love of interior design. If you don’t absolutely drink up design blogs and shelter mags, no need to apply.
5. Basic DIY skills (like painting) and a willingness to use them often!!
6. A positive attitude and a good sense of humor. This job can be hectic and I need someone who can let all the crazy roll right off!
7. Must be willing to be photographed and filmed.
If you feel like you’d be a good fit for the team, please email me your resume (and any other info you’d like to include) to jenny at jennykomenda dot com.
Thank you!! xx
P.S. One job perk is getting to see my little angel baby Evie every now and then. Pretty awesome indeed.
Have a great weekend! xoxo
I wish I lived in NYC and could work for you!
And look at your sweet baby in her smocked Bishop Dress…you must have some Southern blood in you?!?
I wish I lived in NYC too! What an awesome opportunity!
If only if only I lived in NY!
Sounds like fun… Miami is too far away, sadly. Loving the smocking too…

How about a woman that lives in NJ and will be in NYC daily? :) I'm originally from NYC's lower east side and have lived all around the city at some point. Google Maps rock, but having someone that knows NYC as well as a native nuyawkah is priceless! lol
I drink up design magazines, blogs and catalogs like SB passion tea lemonades! I'm super handy (built theater sets and took all shop classes in HS and even wanted to be an engineer) and I soak up new skills like a faux finish sponge!
My resume is pretty filled with Coordinator, Office Mgr & Exec Admin roles, but I'm just a jai-of-all-trades with a get-it-done attitude.
Hope to hear from you!!

Maybe you may want to place a facebook icon to your site. I just marked down the article, although I had to make it by hand. Just my suggestion.

That all sounds fabulous, I forwarded it to my niece.
But (and I'm not trying to be a troll) I really hope you plan to take time out of your schedule to teach the interns. Interns are not 'helpers' they are students and I worry that some businesses (even small ones like yourself) wittingly or unwittingly take advantage of young people in todays job market. Many people cannot afford to do unpaid internships which hurts them in the long term – make sure that the skills they learn will make working 3-5 days a week free worth it!
I know you have probably thought about this but it's a bit of a PSA for the entire blogging community. When I have an intern at work they are usually not much of a help because the time I spend helping them is outweighed by the time they spend helping me. But it makes me feel good about imparting my wisdom (haha)!
I've seen a large number of unpaid internships posted on design blogs lately. I just want to remind you and other bloggers to make sure you are complying with the law. I recently read in the NYT that the government is cracking down on unpaid internships: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/03/business/03intern.html
SO… ANY NEWS ON THIS? :)
I SOO wish I lived in NYC :( guess I am not alone in that! congrats!
