I fell head over heals for these fabric-covered children’s chairs in the kids section at ABC.
At $170 each though, I’m thinking this would be a good piece to DIY.
The backs are obviously different, but I’m pretty sure my favorite kids chairs from the Conran shop would work really well for this project. (On sale for $30.60 each, available in pink, blue and white). The legs and the seat are very similar to the inspiration chair.
EDIT: Thanks to your comments everyone! The IKEA Minnen chair is the exact same frame! $16.99 each!
I’d just use a two-inch brush to paint on some Mod Podge or watered down Elmers glue on top of pretty quilting cotton that was cut to fit generously. (PS my favorite cotton prints are available at Purl SOHO – including Liberty of London Tana Lawns and adorable Japanese fabrics). Once the fabric has dried (and fully shrunk) after a day or two, trim the edges with a razor blade and then seal it all up with Polycrylic.
Sounds fun and easy, right!? I think I’m going to order a pair of chairs today.
That is a really unique idea! Not sure I like it enough to try it for our home, but they could really be charming in the right space.
Ohh I love this idea. I don't think I'm game enough to try it. Maybe on a small chair with cheap fabric first… would love to see someone whose done it! :)

Lovely idea! With the Polycrylic any spills would come right up. These would look great around a little girl's tea table.

Would you just continually wrap a long, skinny piece around the legs and upper part of the chair? And use Modge podge to secure it?
This is such a great idea! I may try this. I've been looking for a great desk chair and don't want to spend a lot of money on an upholstered one. This is a fabulous alterntive! Hope you share the finished product!

I LOVE ABC Carpet and Home. I can never afford to buy anything but I just love going there for inspiration. Definitely keep us posted after your chair remake!
So funny! I started my own DIY version of this 3 weeks ago with the IKEA Chairs! The results are amazing, but time consuming!!!! Start wrapping near the seat and work outwards so you can hide any of the seams. I also did a very pedestrian looking garment rack (container store, $25) that I had out in the open to hang my daughter's dress up close on.
