Check out some of the amazing trims available at Joanns right now! I was seriously impressed – a major improvement from the last time I shopped their trims section.

Evelyn likes the zebra trim as much as I do!

Pink box pleats would be so cute on a glider slipcover for a little girls nursery.

Faux croc – maybe a little mini rug binding project?

Black and white stripes make almost anything a little better in my book

Gold!

Classic Greek key

I bought the entire spool of this leopard trim. It was on mega clearance.

Two different python patterns:

I ended up buying several yards of this rainbow ribbon. It’s sort of like an abstract painting of polkadots and I love it! (sorry that the photo is out of focus)

How pretty would this folksy (almost suzani?) trim be on simple white linen curtains from IKEA…

I bought some of this sort of tribal-like trim too. Love the colors:

Do you have any fun trim in your house? Send me a photo!

**PS Some of you asked about my nail polish. Sorry you have to look at my chipped nails in almost every picture! The polish is actually a really inexpensive one – Revlon’s Orange Flip. I’ve had it for a while, but I use it all the time. It’s a really wearable but fun orangey red.

If you can’t find the Revlon shade, Essie’s Clam Bake is another orangey red. Also, I think either Madewell or JCrew sells a great shade in-stores.

  1. I just bought that black and white stripe. My friend has it in the brown – which was out at my store – and it is amazing. Great for wreath hanging, initial hanging etc.

  2. I'm so jealous. I just moved to Charlotte, NC and believe it or not, there are ZERO JoAnn's in this part of the state. Hancock is as good as it gets….and it's not good at all.

  3. Either I'm not paying attention, or your JoAnn store has MANY more selections than mine does. I've always been incredibly disappointed with the trim at my local JoAnn store, and end up having to shop at a locally owned store (which I don't mind) and paying much more for trim (which I do mind). Maybe I'm just overlooking all of this great stuff at JoAnn. I'm going to make a point of looking for it now.

  4. Wow, my Joanns definitely doesn't have all those trims!

I was there recently looking for trim to re-do an old luggage rack, and the suitable choices were all solids. (I passed.) Maybe I'll check their website. Thanks for the tip!

  5. Ashley – I updated the post with my polish color. It's Revlon's Orange Flip. I bought it on sale a couple years ago, but I bet you can find it online. Let me know if you do – I'll buy a couple more bottles myself! :)

  6. Love using trims! I used your tutorial on turning inexpensive blinds into shades for my daugters room and trimmed the edges with a printed ribbon.I always enjoy your fresh ideas and find great inspiration in your blog.
    Cheers,

  7. So funny, I love your polish, too! And Evelyn looks like a little doll! But back to trim. Thanks so much for the peek. Never would've thought Joanns. I'm in serious need of an inexpensive greek key :D

  8. Have you been to M&J Trimmings on 6th and 38th Street? Amazing selection of ribbons, buttons, piping and trimmings. You have to check it out!
But my absolute favorite place for ribbons in the city is Hyman and Hendler, on 38th. They are expensive, but have a huge store full of antique ribbon. It's like you've died and gone to ribbon heaven!

  9. Gorgeous! I love the fabrics in the basket as well. You are going to show us the office when it's done right? I shop for everything at thrift stores, IKEA and Joanns, so I can't wait to see how you put it all together!

  10. the closest joanns to me is a little over an hour away and is not nearly as nice as some other joanns i've been in…i used the box pleat trim in my baby's nursery in the cream colorway..used it on a slipcover to trim the bottom of it…it's on an antique footstool..the other place i used it was as trim down the side of some ikea curtains! would love to use the faux croc to trim out my jute rug in the den!

  11. I noticed Joanns stepped it up a notch too! Love that, I love going shopping and buying fabric and trim right then and there, I'm all about instant gratification! BTW You're baby girl is getting so big, she's darling!

  12. Oh I'm so glad you posted this! Are the "bleached" linen curtains from Ikea a true white?

  13. Thanks for showing what you like! Some of the same ones have caught my eye, but I was worried that they could end up looking cheap if not put together well.(any tips for keeping it luxe-looking?)

  14. I used the pink box pleat trim for the edging on a baby quilt I made for a friend's newborn. It turned out so cute. I love Joann's trim section too!
