Lack Hack

I love the IKEA lack side table. It comes in all sorts of great colors, and at $7.99 each, you absolutely cannot beat the price. I use it in all sorts of projects and often add to or embellish the simple design. It’s fun to be on the look out for new lack hack ideas….

It’s fun to be on the look out for new lack hack ideas. I love this photo, from MWM design, featured on Kelly’s blog yesterday. Also! This is the cover of the new online magazine from Australia, Ivy and Piper. It’s a must-read check it out!

And it got me thinking… could a couple of simple corbels from Home Depot and a little time with my sander make a Lack table this gorgeous?

  1. Fab idea…it's so very simple and affordable. It's one of those "now why didn't I think of this" ideas. Thanks & wonderful blog!

  2. I think you are on to something here. Generally, I'm not a huge fan of the Lack tables. They are just "there" to me and whenever I see one, no matter the color or use, I just think, "Eh. Ikea. $7.99. Okay." but the way you show these tables..well, I think I may just have to get on board. Love it.

  3. I do think they have potential, but they're only 17 inches high. That sort of limits a lot of the uses unless you're working with a child's room or something.

  4. I LOVE IT!!! I'm so in love with IKEA, I got my husband to let me name out puppy Ikea :D. I picked up a bunch of those Lack side tables for our living room and our bed room. I even use one for a kiddy table for my 2 girls to eat at and use for their craft projects. I never thought about embellishing them. I'm going to have to try this out. :D

  5. I've been reading your blog for ages (and finally got up the courage to start my own), and this is just the sort of brilliant but simple DIY that has been so inspiring! I wish I had a place for another little table…
