A vintage office chair that’s actually really comfortable.

I love the way it looks from behind with all that gorgeous wood!

I’m going to keep the pretty tufting when I reupholster the piece next month. I’m thinking a charcoal linen would be pretty.

Other than that, a little Bar Keeper’s Friend for the rusted steel and some Restor-A-Finish for the scratch up veneer, and this chair will look great in my new office (which is technically just one half of our new living room! :)

  1. You really do snag the best finds! That is beautiful and will be all the more so once you get your talented hands on it. Charcoal linen-yes!

  2. The best price there is: FREE!!

Someone bought a big lot of furniture at the auction yesterday and didn't want the chair (probably bc the vinyl is ripped?). I gladly took it off his hands!!

I did a little googling and it is a pretty pricey chair (when it's in perfect condition). Another commenter was right in that it's a mid-century plycraft chair. I wish it had come with the little tufted ottoman, but that's not a big deal since I am going to use it as a desk chair.

PVE – I think I just might add casters! Just to make it a little more functional. I know it's not staying true to the original design, but neither is charcoal linen upholstery and using a lounger as a desk chair. I'm not one to take design too seriously anyway. Form and function baby.

  3. Completely and Utterly JEALOUS !That chair is so fabulous. Cant wait to see what you do with it! Please post the after pics!

  4. What a great find! It's so different with the wood back. Love it

  5. Love that it won't look out of place in the living room too (sooo much better than a "regular" office chair.

I think the linen will look gorgeous.

I'd love to read a post of your suggested tools of the trade for touching up vintage furniture. You mentioned a few here but I'd love a full rundown!

  10. Can't wait to see what you do with this! I have been browsing your blog and would love to be able to add it to my blogroll. When I click subscribe – blogger, it just gives me a weird site enabling me to make a button out of your photos. I dunno whats going on. Can you let me in on how to follow your blog? Thanks!

  11. How do you such great things on Craig's List? I spend a decent amount of time pouring over lists of home items, but a lot of it seems like junk. Do you search for specific things, or do you just sift through all of the listings on a regular basis? I love your ability to reinvent things!
