Maybe someday I’ll have saved enough pennies for Leontine. In the meantime, I…’borrowed’ a few of their monogram designs to make my husband’s and my monogram in photoshop.

This sad little thrift store umbrella stand (that has been painted every color in the rainbow since I bought it a few years ago) badly needed a facelift…

This is how crazy I am guys – I taped a piece of freezer paper to my computer screen and traced the image.

I did some fine-tuning with a pen…

Then I carefully cut out the design with an X-acto knife. And then adhered the paper to my freshly painted umbrella stand.

Then I used a sponge roller to apply some white paint.

Here’s the 100% free outcome:

A huge improvement, no? I love it.

  1. Great idea to do that on the umbrella stand. I love it. I have done the tracing on the monitor thing when I have done silhouettes!

  2. You are amazing! I love your attention to detail! OH–do you think the penguin book set can still be found?? I am trying to find them and coming up short—any tips would be appreciated. Thanks..

  6. Can I just say how much I love your blog?! I appreciate that your ideas are affordable and so creative! I'm slightly obsessed with momograms; I want to do one on my interior front door (slab door), but wasn't sure how to tackle the stencil. This gives me some great ideas.

I really love your bookshelf in this post; I've been looking for a way to spruce up my IKEA billy bookcases, and I love what you've done with yours.
