I’ve been working with a couple Ukrainian art dealers for a long time now to source quite a few (14 to be exact) of the pieces in our @juniperprintshop vintage collection over the years. (Lakeside and Laurel here in my living room are included! (Also miss you, Linus 😢)) I have been in touch with these art dealers in Ukraine and they are currently safe, though obviously under intense distress. They both encouraged us to donate to NGOs rather than to them directly. So today we created a Ukrainian Collection on the site and we will be donating 100% of the proceeds of the sale of these vintage Ukrainian pieces to @liftinghandsinternational. This incredible organization, which we have worked with in the past and completely trust, is hoping to raise $150,000 as soon as possible for refugees, mostly women and children, fleeing (many walking!) from Ukraine into Moldova. Please help us this week and donate directly to Lifting Hands or purchase a print so we can donate on your behalf! Thank you! 💛💙

We lost our best buddy, Linus, last night on Christmas, after a perfect day spent together. Our hearts are broken, but he left us in the most incredible, and somehow peaceful way, surrounded by his family who were telling him what a good boy he has always been for us since he came into our lives exactly ten years ago. Our brother.🤍 I’ll be forever grateful that as we were walking out the door a few weeks ago, I had the nudge to bring him with us to take our Christmas card photos. I will cherish these forever, @lizzyography. 🤍 Until we meet again, Liney, you will always be in our hearts and we will feel you here in our home, doing your best work - keeping watch over the girls and giving us a kind look and a snuggle when we’re sad. Love you, buddy. 🤍

We usually put our Christmas tree up in our living room but last night I felt a burst of energy and decided it would be worth moving furniture around to have our tree up in our front room/library. We are loving the new seating arrangement today! Plus, is there anything more charming than seeing Christmas trees all lit up in our neighbors’ windows?! 🤍 I’m glad we’re joining in on the fun this year!

Summer of 2020 was when we were going to start Phase 2 of our home renovation, but we all know what happened there. I’m not mad about it! It’s given me more time to think about (and save money for) what I really want for our forever house! 🖤
Here is my reno list:
- rework parts of our exterior (lean in to the Victorian elements or the farmhouse?)
- new roof and siding (this is BADLY NEEDED)
- build a large pergola (or porch?) off the back sliding door
- dig a pool (!!!)
- garden beds (!!!!!!)
- finally install the fireplace in our living room I had a dream about almost two years ago!
- move the main bedroom closet
- renovate our bathroom
- new laundry room
- mudroom cabinets
- pantry shelving
- custom (diy?) bunk beds in Evie and Margot’s bedroom
- finish up home gym
- better organization systems for our garage
- new garage doors
So many decisions to make, but I’m feeling fresh-eyed after such a long break from renovation projects! I’m excited to take you along for the ride here! And while I work on plans and permits, I’m planning to share more about our office kitchen (we used IKEA + @semihandmade) and our own home kitchen (custom cabinets from @burdettecabinetco), so get your kitchen renovation questions ready. We’re going to do a deep dive!!!

When I was making a plan to style our newest @juniperprintshop print release, ALASKA by @mikaylareneeprints, I kept imagining this exact black metal sideboard against a rich mossy brown wall color with the print in our largest size - 55x79". Furniture lead times are crazy long right now so I didn't have time to order the sideboard from the to-the-trade vendor. I looked high and low for something similar locally and just kept striking out. This will surprise exactly zero of you, but I can be pretty stubborn when I have an idea in my head, and I just had a feeling I would find the sideboard I wanted if I kept looking. The day before our shoot I was just about to give up and figure out another last minute option, when I stopped by @foundbydomesticbliss again, this time for some accessories. I got to chatting with the very friendly staff and the amazing owners, Dan and Kristin. We were catching up on life and work. I shared about the new styling set and joked about how I was looking for a Camila sideboard on FB marketplace at 2 am the night before...and then RECORD SCRATCH!! Dan tells me they had a Camila sideboard in the back of their warehouse that had *just* arrived a little too damaged for them to sell on the floor! Isn't that crazy!? He gave me a great deal and we were styling it back at Juniper just a few hours later! I used styling pieces only on the top and filled the inside with art books and magazines to keep the look less cluttered and more textural behind the glass doors. I love the sideboard (it's enormous!) and am excited to keep using it here at our offices. 🖤 I know this isn't a life changing story, but it was a much-needed reminder for me to, in all things, have faith in the process, trust my instincts and persistently move forward with my vision while leaning on my generous and resourceful community. I love open-mindedness and well-timed pivot, but also, really good things happen with clarity and persistent effort. (PS the book Grit by @angelalduckworth talks a lot about this kind of thinking - it's one of my favorite books and is a powerful tool for parenting and team management!)
