I apparently have a thing for bone inlaid furniture. I’ve saved all kinds of images that include these beautiful and unique pieces.

I’m pretty sure Carlton Varney used this mirror available at Wisteria for the above power room. (Anthropologie carries a green version of the same mirror for about $50 less.)
These benches also used to be available at Wisteria and are still available at Graham and Green. Don’t you just love this bedroom? That canopy bed is amazing.
Remember Nathan from Top Design II? He used these bone inlay chairs, also from Graham and Green, in his final design – both in the dining room and in the office. LOVE it.
Speaking of Graham and Greene, they’ve pretty much cornered the market on great-looking (and expensive) bone inlaid furniture… Some day…
just sick.
I love the dresser on the last pic. Pretty!
Wow! Show-stoppers for sure and worth saving up for!
Thanks for the inspiration!
Love the blue mirror and table! If you ever make it to NYC’s ABC Carpet and Home you’ll find more great pieces of furniture like this…they had some w/ gorgeous mosaic ceramic tile while ago!
I like it, but I can’t help think that I could paint some furniture for the same graphic punch. The idea of furniture made with bones is a little creepy, although if I had it, I’m sure I’d get over it.
It is nice and decorative, but I think on smaller pieces, such as the mirror.
Also I think more than one piece of furniture like that would give me a headache.
So one small piece would look nice in a room :)
xx
I love it! I don’t have any in my house yet, but I have been eyeing the green mirror from Anthro for quite some time now. One day…
It’s pretty and I appreciate it in a room but I don’t love enough to want it.
It’s pretty but can be busy – not sold enough to seek out any pieces.
I love it – but is it really bone? Explain please? If so, couldn’t they just use naturally-occurring minerals to simulate the effect.
The bone does creep me out a bit…which is too bad b/c I think the pieces are gorgeous!
Graham & Green also has mother of pearl – the grey bedside table is my favorite.
I’ve always known this as marquetry or parquetry (inlays can be made equally from different coloured wood and from shell, such as mother of pearl, bone, stone and even metal). I don’t really like it on large pieces of furniture, but as a feature item such as a jewel box it can be lovely.
To be honest, it freaks me out a little bit. It reminds me of a group of cells or something from biology. Inlaid orbs or balls that people group together in a vase or a bowl are the worst for me. It makes me do a full body shudder. I don’t know why, but it does!
TRYPOPHOBIA…..IF YOU GOOGLE IT DON’T LOOK AT THE PICTURES.
Love love love. That first image by Katie Ridder is one of my all-time favorite rooms. I ordered a swatch of that sofa fabric and it looks so boring in real life but really works in the picture. She is incredibly talented.
I like it. They have some pieces @ Home Goods but they still aren’t cheap (as far as Home Goods prices goes).
The mirrors are beautiful.
I plan on buying one soon.
:]
Good feature! You can also check out this for Home Furniture.
I think they are beautiful and have such a big impact in a room. Our supplier recently informed us that they are made with camel bones which would otherwise have been discarded – it’s kind of nice to know that something beautiful is being made out of something that would have been destroyed! Tracey xx
Not crazy about it really but maybe a very small piece would be nice in the right room.

P.S. Love the Swedish chair in the first image!
have been in love with inlaid forever. looking for a great little side table for my home but can’t find any at a decent price. also, horchow carries some inlaid pieces that are beautiful. wish wisteria would bring some back.
I love, love, love inlaid furniture! I’ve been looking for a mirror like these for my bathroom for over a year….
I remember seeing a piece of inlaid furniture at the Silk Trading Company, and thinking it was incredibly beautiful. I saw the light colored inlaid chest at ABC Home in NYC last month, and thought it was gorgeous – would make an excellent sink base (not sure how well it would deal with water).
Last pic marvellous!
i just love the mirror especially the black and white mirror ts sooo unique.
Just so everyone knows…Wisteria did bring some back, so check it out!t
Funny! I'm just buying two matching wingback chairs on craigslist myself this morning! All your pictures that you posted of chairs are done in white or a neutral color so I'm thinking this is what you're drawn to. I would go with a neutral color and that's exactly what I'm planning on doing. Perhaps burlap or linen?
amazing…
love it too..

I just discovered your blog today, and I love it! I'm only 3 weeks in to this whole blog thing, but I've read through several of your posts, and I love your selected photos and agree so much with your design aesthetic! I'm excited to keep reading. Great work:)
Thank you!
Just found your blog today while searching for bone inlaid furniture. I will say that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I completely agree with you, I think these pieces tie a room together so nicely. I too found that I have saved many decor pictures that include this style of furniture.
Now the tricky part is finding affordable pieces!
