I LOOOVVVVVVEEEE a good wall sconce! They make every space look more designed, more expensive and more layered. The great news is you can find a ton of great plug-in options these days that eliminate the need to even hire an electrician. I love this for renters! Super easy to pack up and bring with you to the next house. (In fact this was something I learned when we staged the Gentry project – any light fixture or window treatment that is installed in the walls is sold as a part of the house! – all of the hardwired lights and the window treatments were thrown in, which I hadn’t really planned for, ouch!)

But the plug-in sconces are easy to take down and pack up! I love love love these black two-arm sconces from our recent guest room makeover!

Sometimes it is definitely worth the extra cost and effort to hardwire install sconces, especially for a kitchen space. These sconces from Lucent with their flat back plates are COMPLETELY worth it!

Sometimes I think the cotton-wrapped cords are actually really pretty and can be a fun element of the lighting!

In my daughter’s bedroom, we wrapped the cords with yarn as a simple DIY project and I love the touch of color it added!

  1. Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever loved SO many items in a single round-up!! I don’t have a single science in my house, and now I need all the sconces! Thanks!

  2. hello, i am trying the link for number 32 and i am sent to the link for number 40. could you get me the link for number 32? thanks, beth

  3. You just have to specify when you list the house that all or specific window coverings or light fixtures are not part of the sale–we’ve bought and sold a number of houses and that seems to be common practice where I live. But yes, if you don’t specify that in the listing, it does come with the house.

  4. Recently, I finished my new home with my husband and now we have been dealing with the interior for several weeks. I admit that you inspired me with this entry. Sconces look very nice, give a sufficient, delicate glow of light and in the bedroom above the bed is the perfect solution. I love reading books before bed also fits perfectly.

  5. Hey! I liked the lamps design. Check out your roofs properly before hanging up your lamps. It might happen that may be your roofs are not strong enough to handle the weight of your lamps. So, it is mandatory to got inspection of the roof properly. More chances are there in the rainy season when the roof leakage is more.

  6. This is a wonderful post, but clicking on #38 takes me to the link for #40. Would love to get the info on #38.
    Thanks!

  7. It really is amazing how many plug in sconce options there are now…and all so cute! Have you come across any plug in overhead pendants/lanterns? I’m in need of one for my rental space and can’t find any as good looking as these.

  8. Hi ! I love the oblique black pained wall in the first pic. Was this covered in a previous blog post (I can’t seem to find it). Can you point me to the source for this pic ? Thanks

  10. Hi, I love the look of your guestroom remodel (and all the rooms, actually) – Any ideas where I could get my hands on the framed ocean art you have above the bed?
    Thank you!
