This weekend we started decorating for the holidays around the studio and at my house. I have a sliiiiight allergy to real trees so we’ve been using our faux white tree for the past couple of years, but this year my girls have been begging for a big, real tree since basically July. I gave in and will just pop a couple extra Benedryl for the next few weeks. :)

At home and at the studio, I’m keeping it simple this year. I’ve been drawn to more modern holiday decor to add to my more traditional Christmas items I’ve collected over the years. I’m most excited about making these wooden bead garlands and a few simple wreaths! Also our friends over at Sonoran Handmade sent us this amazing modern acrylic nativity that I really love!

  1. These home decorations are suitable for simple style, and I also like this style, and I also have some of these decorations. Today, I found a Christmas tree on a website. It’s cute and cheap. I don’t know how to match it more beautifully?

  2. Love real trees! Please take these safety precautions: if you didn’t cut the tree yourselves, cut the bottom 2″ off the trunk as store-bought trees have sat for long enough that there is a big blockage of sap that keeps the tree from getting enough water. Water your tree thoroughly every.day.no.matter.what. Check your smoke alarms and change the batteries. Talk your girls through a fire exit plan that takes them away from the room that the tree is in. Even well-watered trees can burn a room in less than 30 seconds to too-hot for firefighter gear! Super scary! Said with love and lots of holiday cheer. Loving your minimalist, natural decoration tips – those beaded garlands and wreaths are so cute. Xoxo!

  3. Any chance you’re doing a tutorial for the beaded garlands? Wreaths? They’re both fantastic!

  4. Lovely post! I have the paper trees and they are my favorite! What’s the link for the modern beaded wreath? It’s not working! Thanks!
