A few weeks ago, I was invited for a quick trip to gorgeous Raleigh, NC to tour the 2016 HGTV Smart Home with HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams. I have been to North Carolina before for High Point market, but never to Raleigh. It was such a beautiful, inspiring city! We got to tour the Videri Chocolate Factory, Raleigh Denim Workshop and the North Carolina Museum of Art (like, woah, with the modern grounds there!). We also ate at some of the most delicious restaurants and we even took a segue tour of the Oakwood Historic district (lots of behind the scenes are posted on my Instagram!). It was a super inspiring trip that ended with a tour of the 2016 HGTV Smart Home, and it did not disappoint!

Tiffany Brooks was the designer this year and she really nailed the color choices! Every room felt unique and different, but the colors all flowed and worked together. She mixed neutral, calming tones with bold, saturated hues from the HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams Neutral Nuance Color Collection.

The common area wall color is Sedate Gray and I loved it! It was the perfect goes-with-everything, barely there color.

The art in this dining room was so great! Large and in charge is my favorite size for artwork.

The kitchen cabinets were the prettiest color of bluey gray called Retreat. It paired so well with the brass accents in the lighting and the beautiful patterned wall tile.

How about that cute bird print on the mudroom window shades?

The reason the home is called the Smart Home is the whole place is completely tricked out with the coolest electronics and automated technology, like these skylights that opened and shut with a phone app. So cool!

I love that the bedrooms were a little more dramatic with color, but they still felt in tune with the common areas of the Smart Home.

The nursery walls were the prettiest shade of dark, moody teal called Riverway. I love how the color paired with the orange curtain fabric.

Anonymous is one of my favorite colors in the HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams paint color collection. It’s a warm, dark gray that looks especially great on cabinetry like this office nook in the Smart Home loft. It pairs so well with pink and brass!

The Master bathroom and the guest bedroom walls were both Dover White – a beautiful warm white! The tiniest pops of color on the walls looked amazing in here.

How amazing is that millwork in the Master bedroom? I love the idea of a grid-patterned feature wall. It looks especially cool with large artwork layered on top.

Such a gorgeous home, right? Believe it or not, I edited like crazy to get the number of photos here down to a reasonable amount, but if you feel like you still want to see more, here’s a full tour from HGTV. (By the way, have you entered to win yet?)

It was SUCH a treat to get to see some of the best parts of Raleigh on this trip! I can see why HGTV chose to build this year’s Smart Home in that beautiful place! A big thanks to HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams for hosting me. I’m hoping for an invite to next year’s tour!! :)

  1. I love the Riverway and Anonymous paint colours. I am surprised that they left the past-its-prime (bloomless) orchid in the front entry. Or is this a new trend that I simply haven’t caught on to?

    1. Haha! Good eye! I didn’t even notice in person – there was so much pretty everywhere to distract me from some of the details. :)

  2. This is so beautiful. I love everything- the colors, the style, the art, that kitchen!!! LOVE!!!

  3. I have never been to Raleigh but feel that it would be a fun city to visit for a weekend. I just entered the giveaway, thanks!

    1. It was a really, really great city, Traci! I can’t recommend it enough and can’t wait to go back for another trip. :)

  4. I love the giant cross section of the wood cut in the stair way! Is it a Bryan Nash Gill piece? Can you tell me where they bought it or if it was commissioned?

    1. Hi Susan!

I’m not sure of the artist! The designer, Tiffany Brooks, was super nice though and I bet if you emailed her or her team through her website, someone might get back to you on that?

      Hope that helps!

  5. Do you have the name of the paint color that was used for the kitchen island? I’m using this color scheme in my kitchen remodel. Also, it would be wonderful to know the name and vendor of the kitchen pendants. I really appreciate your sharing that Sherwin-Williams paints were used.

    1. The cabinets are painted the Retreat color from HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams. Hope that helps! I’m not sure of the lighting vendor, but you might want to try reaching out to Tiffany Brooks, the designer of the house. :)

      1. Are you sure about that? When I asked HGTV they said the perimeter cabinets were Willow and the Island was Bleu both colors from the Wellborn Cabinets.

  6. I have the same question about the kitchen island color! It doesn’t appear to be on the swatch list you shared. Thank you!

  7. Hi Jenny. I’ve noticed when I read your post the photos are all mixed up lately. Photos from older posts are showing up where they shouldn’t be. For example in this post there were photos from your garden party instead of the master bedroom?….

    1. Oh how weird!! They aren’t mixed up for me? I’m not sure how to fix that for you, but I’ll do some googling and try to figure it out!

  8. This might be my favorite HGTV home yet! I absolutely adore the artwork. You’re so lucky! I just found your blog today and your aesthetic is similar to mine (though mine’s a counseling site). I look forward to following you!

  9. Beautiful! I love all the details. Jenny, did you happen to get the paint color used on the exterior brick? I can’t find it anywhere on the HGTV site. Thanks for sharing the tour!

  10. It would be a real entertainment to live in a house like this. A really sophisticated design, not a single dull moment. I snooped out more photos on HGTV site, the house is one big mansion with so many rooms love it!

  11. Beautiful home…. maybe I missed it but what are the names/brand of the paint colors on the exterior and shutters of the home.

  12. I’m wondering if you know where the hexagon tile in the mud room is from? I love it!
