Mini DIYs: Toy Animal Hooks and Agate Drawer Pulls (and a Give Away!!)

It’s a DIYer’s dream because you can fix, make or improve basically anything with Sugru. They have just launched two new kits that make home hacks easy and fun. The Sugru Starter Kit comes with a mini-booklet of ten cool home hacks, along with five packs of Sugru in a cute little tin. (a cute gift idea!)

The Sugru Kit Guide, comes with five packs of Sugru, the same mini-booklet and tin, plus all the accessories you need to complete the ten hacks!

I tried a few of the projects from their guide around our house over the weekend. I made some little hooks for Evie’s room using Sugru to attach plastic toy animals to the side of her bookshelf.

It’s so easy to do – you just put a good-sized ball of Sugru on the toy animal feet and press them firmly on to the surface you want to attach them, and then just tape the toy in place on the wall while the Sugru cures overnight.

Super cute, right? Evie was ALL about them!

I loved this idea from the Kit to make hooks with Sugru in my kitchen by my range to hold my phone so I can listen to music or podcasts and reference online recipes while I cook without getting my phone dirty. Sugru bonds great to brick and ceramics, so you won’t need a drill!

I love that you can repair broken low-voltage USB charger cords (under 24 volts) with Sugru! We had quite a few of these that needed to be fixed. :)

You can do it a little thinner than I did, but I liked the idea of building in a little handle to pull making it easier to use.

Probably my favorite Sugru project that we tried was making these one-of-a-kind pulls using screws and agate slices.

The trick is to find screws with a flat top and a nut for tightening on the back of your drawer and use Sugru to attach them to the agate slices. Sugru is great for sticking to awkward surfaces, like these super glossy pieces of polished stone!

Claire was really loving these pulls so I’m thinking these new pulls might have to make their way to her nightstands!

  1. Wow, I wish I had known about this genius little product ages ago. My husband is in the service so we are perpetual renters and have put many little holes in other peoples walls all in the name of storage. I particularly love the idea of "mounting" bathroom fixtures, such as a toothbrush cup holder, since we have no counter space and our medicine cabinet is over the toilet. Many toothbrushes have been tossed well before their time.

Thanks for doing such a great feature!

  2. I would love to try Sugru out! If I won a kit, I would attach mirrors to the inside of every bedroom closet door. This is a project I have been wanting to tackle, however I don't want to cause permanent damage with screws in the doors.

  3. It's probably too late, but I love the idea of using fun toys as hooks. I'm definitely going to pin that project for later!

  4. I love the 'Make everything Magnetic' kit, my husband and I collect both nicknacks and magnets from our travels, now we have a son it would be great to get those nicknacks onto our fridge & off the shelves where the little fingers reach for them…

  5. my favorite thing on the sugru website ie: The Fixers Manifesto!!! https://sugru.com/blog/the-fixer-s-manifesto The whole idea of fixing things, and/or making them better is at the heart of all of us DIY folks, I think? That is what makes this an amazing product, with SO MANY creative uses, it is impossible to pick a favorite (but I do LOVE the various custom hooks make of sugru) What an amazing product, but even more so…what an amazing story of how it came to be, and the culture of the company as a whole really resonates with me. Just goes to show, if your believe in what your product, you will figure out a way to bring it to life, and people will LOVE IT!!!!!

  6. I've alread used this cool stuff to affix lego men to my desk to hold my phone charger in place. I think the project for organizing shoes looks really fun!! (and useful!

  8. I love that this adheres to difficult to change/decorate spots like brick and plaster. Also wondering what the life of the product is.

  9. I've used it for the past few years… limitless! I repaired the fridge door once; the neighbor was very impressed as he thought I'd have to buy a new one.

  10. OMG!!! Never heard of Sugru before but totally love it. Can use it for so many projects in my new home. Thanks for sharing & the giveaway…hope I win it :)

  11. I have a similar 2 part product that works great BUT I love the idea of no mixing, using it straight out of the bag! And colors!

First I'd put some of those tennis balls on the inside of my closet door to hang most worn shoes from – then I'd put iPad holders all over my house :)

  12. I have seen this before, but not at this level of inventive – wow! I love all the repair ideas, but the plug hub was just amazing!

  13. What is this magical stuff? I love moments like this when it's very obvious that I'm living in "the future". Those animal hangers are just the cutest ever.

  14. I'm happy to learn about this stuff. It would be useful all over my house, but I especially like the bathroom ideas. I have an unsightly broken tile, and I could cover it with a rack or hook.

  15. I love the bathroom projects! How great is it that you can hang up stuff without drilling into tile?!
Is it hard to take off?

  16. I love the idea of using them to attach the accessories in the shower without having to drill in. I hate the idea of drill into tile so Sugru would be perfect!

  17. i want to try these for pet leashes and supplies, i just worry about my dogs thinking they are delicious treats on the wall.

  18. This stuff is everywhere! Just saw it in The Container Store catalogue, too. Boring, but useful: My favorite project is fixing those dang iPhoen cords.
