Mini DIYs: Toy Animal Hooks and Agate Drawer Pulls (and a Give Away!!)

It’s a DIYer’s dream because you can fix, make or improve basically anything with Sugru. They have just launched two new kits that make home hacks easy and fun. The Sugru Starter Kit comes with a mini-booklet of ten cool home hacks, along with five packs of Sugru in a cute little tin. (a cute gift idea!)

The Sugru Kit Guide, comes with five packs of Sugru, the same mini-booklet and tin, plus all the accessories you need to complete the ten hacks!

I tried a few of the projects from their guide around our house over the weekend. I made some little hooks for Evie’s room using Sugru to attach plastic toy animals to the side of her bookshelf.

It’s so easy to do – you just put a good-sized ball of Sugru on the toy animal feet and press them firmly on to the surface you want to attach them, and then just tape the toy in place on the wall while the Sugru cures overnight.

Super cute, right? Evie was ALL about them!

I loved this idea from the Kit to make hooks with Sugru in my kitchen by my range to hold my phone so I can listen to music or podcasts and reference online recipes while I cook without getting my phone dirty. Sugru bonds great to brick and ceramics, so you won’t need a drill!

I love that you can repair broken low-voltage USB charger cords (under 24 volts) with Sugru! We had quite a few of these that needed to be fixed. :)

You can do it a little thinner than I did, but I liked the idea of building in a little handle to pull making it easier to use.

Probably my favorite Sugru project that we tried was making these one-of-a-kind pulls using screws and agate slices.

The trick is to find screws with a flat top and a nut for tightening on the back of your drawer and use Sugru to attach them to the agate slices. Sugru is great for sticking to awkward surfaces, like these super glossy pieces of polished stone!

Claire was really loving these pulls so I’m thinking these new pulls might have to make their way to her nightstands!

  1. I really want to try those knobs with a dresser I have now that I plan on painting white! That is so cool. Thank you for sharing!

One of my favorite "projects" on the Sugru site was the toothbrushes next to the sink. I might try that for our new pedestal sink. It would be a lot easier than our current set up. :)

  2. This is such an awesome product! I've been on a mission to organize our kitchen better so I love the idea of creating hooks for pot lids with Sugru. Thank you for offering this!

  3. I love, love, love Sugru! After seeing a post about it on House*Tweaking I used their no drill bathroom accessories project to hang a shower rod in my new bathroom. I just couldn't imaging drilling into the tile when the plan is to add a frameless glass door. It's been over 2 months and the rod hasn't budged.

  4. Wow!! This stuff is mind-blowing…there are so many cool ideas swimming through my head for using this stuff! I thought the tennis ball, shoe storage idea was an awesome hack on their website, but I truly love the plastic animal hooks you shared…that concept could be used for so many other items as well. I think I'm 'hooked' on Sugru!

  5. That stuff is crazy! I have never heard of it before, but I can't wait to get my hands on some. I am imagining all the bathroom hooks and accessories in my house that might actually get hung…

  6. My parents recently redid their bathroom and it looks like this would be a great way to attach a towel rack to their glass shower doors (non-chrome suction-cup towel bars are IMPOSSIBLE to find!)

  7. WHY have I not heard of Sugur before?? My favorite project is the cable organizing ideas… but your animals crawling the walls is adorable! I SO need this product :-)

  8. This stuff is so cool! One of my faves is on their website – the hack with the logos holding the car keys and the logo guy holding the cord. Awesome! Can't wait to get this for myself and Christmas gifts!

  9. Your timing is crazy—I've just been researching Sugru for the last week! I have a gorgeous Sputnik chandelier that has stripped threads in one of the sockets, and was trying to figure out if Sugru would be a good way to fix it. So I would LOVE to try that! On the website, the cable organization caught my eye—my husband and I are gamers and cords tend to get all over the place.

  10. being able to fix my cords. would be awesome. and hanging my calendar would be awesome. since it just keeps falling from where it's at!

  11. I love the MAKING THE MOST SPACE AROUND YOUR SINK toothbrush project best. 1. Create toothbrush holders anywhere you want it This is a brilliant idea!

  12. I hate drilling holes in bricks or tiles because i can't easily reverse. You are telling me with Sugru, i can put stuff anywhere without having to deal with my commitment issue!?
love all the bathroom projects esp the toothbrush holders!

  13. I have a crockpot without a handle, which is pretty impossible to work with! Sugru to the rescue – I could buy a handle and use it to fasten the handle to the glass top. YAY!!

  14. This product is so fun! I've been wanting to hang hooks for dress-up clothes in my kids' playroom. This would be the perfect solution!

  15. ooooooo how i'd love to use this to make my jewelry display like a pretty installation instead of its current tangled hot mess!

  16. I like the toothbrush holder or the bathroom! We have s mall bathroom with limited counter space so this is an ideal project for our house! That or the toothbrushes can keep falling into the toilet….sigh.

  17. Wow, I have not heard of this. I LOVE their bathroom accessories project without drilling. I was actually just trying to figure out what the heck we were going to do. I think I'll need to give this a try!

  18. I love all of the hacks done in the bathroom! I've been struggling to keep my showering from leaking in a spot and would love some wall mounted soap dispensers without having to drill into the tile! Thanks for the opportunity to win!!

  19. Wow! So hard to choose just one great idea… I can't wait to try the agate pulls… but from the Sugu website, I loved the tennis ball shoe hooks!

  20. Such a great product! I've been wanting to attach some sort of towel holder to our kitchen island, but have been hesitant to drill into the wood. Sugru to the rescue!

  21. Why didn't I hold onto those broken charger cables? That hack is my absolute favorite on their website, but your animals on the bookcase was genius!

  22. Wow…this would make a cool Christmas gift:) I thought the napkin ring holders to scarf storage was genius! But….I'll be using this to fix my old mailbox that I can't figure out how to mend any other way. This would be perfect:)
