Mini DIYs: Toy Animal Hooks and Agate Drawer Pulls (and a Give Away!!)

It’s a DIYer’s dream because you can fix, make or improve basically anything with Sugru. They have just launched two new kits that make home hacks easy and fun. The Sugru Starter Kit comes with a mini-booklet of ten cool home hacks, along with five packs of Sugru in a cute little tin. (a cute gift idea!)

The Sugru Kit Guide, comes with five packs of Sugru, the same mini-booklet and tin, plus all the accessories you need to complete the ten hacks!

I tried a few of the projects from their guide around our house over the weekend. I made some little hooks for Evie’s room using Sugru to attach plastic toy animals to the side of her bookshelf.

It’s so easy to do – you just put a good-sized ball of Sugru on the toy animal feet and press them firmly on to the surface you want to attach them, and then just tape the toy in place on the wall while the Sugru cures overnight.

Super cute, right? Evie was ALL about them!

I loved this idea from the Kit to make hooks with Sugru in my kitchen by my range to hold my phone so I can listen to music or podcasts and reference online recipes while I cook without getting my phone dirty. Sugru bonds great to brick and ceramics, so you won’t need a drill!

I love that you can repair broken low-voltage USB charger cords (under 24 volts) with Sugru! We had quite a few of these that needed to be fixed. :)

You can do it a little thinner than I did, but I liked the idea of building in a little handle to pull making it easier to use.

Probably my favorite Sugru project that we tried was making these one-of-a-kind pulls using screws and agate slices.

The trick is to find screws with a flat top and a nut for tightening on the back of your drawer and use Sugru to attach them to the agate slices. Sugru is great for sticking to awkward surfaces, like these super glossy pieces of polished stone!

Claire was really loving these pulls so I’m thinking these new pulls might have to make their way to her nightstands!

  1. The home hacks kit would be incredible in my home!!! I have three boys have been wanting to use their animals for hanging their coats! So innovative!

  2. I hope we can Sugru here in Manila! I adore the bathroom project since I currently live in a condo with strict drilling policies. Sugru will definitely make like easier and more fun. :)

  3. This is awesome! I could use a number of the wardrobe hacks (hello, more shoe storage), but first I would fix the broken handle on my camera tripod!

  4. I love the toothbrush holders on the sink and can see something similar being a solution to my junk jewellery bathroom storage and display issues.

  5. Mounting bathroom hardware with Sugru is genuis. Now I don't have to worry about putting holes in my tile! Thanks for sharing!

  6. I remember when my parents they had a similar product to use. There was some kind of putty that they tried using that never worked. I am going to buy the suguru kit for my mother. She will come up with creative hacks and she is going to absolutely love it.

  7. SO COOL. I love all the bathroom ideas for hanging accessories without having to drill into tile. Would be so handy in my shower.

  8. This stuff sounds amazing! I love the idea of hanging your cell phone on the kitchen tile while cooking. Can't wait to get some Sugru and start incorporating it into my own projects!

  9. I didn't even know this exist :0 Sugru needs to get big in the Netherlands and fast! I really like the agate pulls and the shell soap dispenser on the website. So pretty

  10. OK, following instructions this time, there are just too many too-cute ideas on the sugru site! I especially like the idea of attaching clips to tile so as not to have to drill through. Thanks again!

  11. I am revamping my closet so I went to that first on their site. So many ideas but I think the shoe storage with the tennis shoes might be favorite. It is especially a good idea in a coat closet that doesn't have much space.

  12. OK, following instructions this time, there are just too many too-cute ideas on the sugru site! I especially like the idea of attaching clips to tile so as not to have to drill through. Thanks again!

  13. Love the animal hooks–too cute. What a fun product, so many clever ideas! While the Sugru 8-pack is on my wishlist, I love the 'Fixer's Manifesto', as it reminds me of my Dad. I think I'll order it and frame it for his workshop. Thanks for the introduction to the company!

  14. Why didn't I think of this?! It's a DIY dream come true and holy cow, I just read the 'Our Story' portion of their site. She's been working on making Sugru for so long! I hope I win, but I'll be buying a pack on my next Target run for sure!

  15. The home hack kit might be my favorite with so many amazing ideas! Thanks for introducing me to this new product. I actually just used my critter spray gun for the first time yesterday – in love. You post the best stuff, Jenny!

  16. What an amazing product! I would love to try the home hacks kit. I'm hoping this will solve a pesky problem in our bathroom.

  17. I bought some Sugru a few months back and repaired the handle and cord on the weed eater! This post inspired me to get it out again and add some little hooks to the side of the new bookcase for the throws when not in use.

  18. My children are grown, but I am thinking of all the toys I could have repaired using Sugru. Reattach Barbie heads and limbs. Put together broken dollhouse plastic furniture. And all those American Girl accessories that fell apart too easily! There are some things that duct tape cannot fix. I need Sugru!

  19. I love Sugru and have used it to repair my iPhone cords, but I admit I haven't been any more creative with it. However, I loved the idea of using Sugru to attach old, beautiful napkin rings to a wardrobe to contain scarves. Brilliant! I mean, who uses napkin rings these days, really? Perfect use of Sugru and a random item.

  20. I'm gonna have to try it to believe it, how long does it last? I'm wondering if it gets dry and cracks eventually….but I could definitely use some shoe storage help. I had never thought to use tennis balls!
