Mini DIYs: Toy Animal Hooks and Agate Drawer Pulls (and a Give Away!!)

It’s a DIYer’s dream because you can fix, make or improve basically anything with Sugru. They have just launched two new kits that make home hacks easy and fun. The Sugru Starter Kit comes with a mini-booklet of ten cool home hacks, along with five packs of Sugru in a cute little tin. (a cute gift idea!)

The Sugru Kit Guide, comes with five packs of Sugru, the same mini-booklet and tin, plus all the accessories you need to complete the ten hacks!

I tried a few of the projects from their guide around our house over the weekend. I made some little hooks for Evie’s room using Sugru to attach plastic toy animals to the side of her bookshelf.

It’s so easy to do – you just put a good-sized ball of Sugru on the toy animal feet and press them firmly on to the surface you want to attach them, and then just tape the toy in place on the wall while the Sugru cures overnight.

Super cute, right? Evie was ALL about them!

I loved this idea from the Kit to make hooks with Sugru in my kitchen by my range to hold my phone so I can listen to music or podcasts and reference online recipes while I cook without getting my phone dirty. Sugru bonds great to brick and ceramics, so you won’t need a drill!

I love that you can repair broken low-voltage USB charger cords (under 24 volts) with Sugru! We had quite a few of these that needed to be fixed. :)

You can do it a little thinner than I did, but I liked the idea of building in a little handle to pull making it easier to use.

Probably my favorite Sugru project that we tried was making these one-of-a-kind pulls using screws and agate slices.

The trick is to find screws with a flat top and a nut for tightening on the back of your drawer and use Sugru to attach them to the agate slices. Sugru is great for sticking to awkward surfaces, like these super glossy pieces of polished stone!

Claire was really loving these pulls so I’m thinking these new pulls might have to make their way to her nightstands!

  1. This looks like an amazing product, and I would love to use it to add storage for toothbrushes and hairbrushes around our bathroom sink!

  2. I love the fixing broken ceramics. looks like kinsugi – the Japanese way of mending broken pots with gold. I'm also realizing it could be used as grout for mosaics. You didn't mention my favorite part – it's removable. amazing stuff.

  3. Hi! This stuff is amazing… Immediately thought of several things that I could use it for. Love the idea for pot lid organizers and for plant supports. SO COOL!

  4. Wow!!! What a product!! I love all the ideas for hooks at kid's level. My little ones will love the animal hooks you made.

  5. This stuff is so cool! Science is amazing! :) I love all the projects that convert natural and unusually shaped items into hardware: your agate pulls are gorgeous, the driftwood hook is great… I can think of so many little touches I could make around our apartment. I'm ordering some now!

  6. I am interested in trying to attach hooks in my bathroom without drilling into the wall. I found a small sample pack of Sugru at a big box store. I used it to temporarily fix my daughter's glasses until her new ones arrived. Great product.

  7. I've seen sugru around keep thinking of all these reasons I need it. Fixing a broken Viking helmet is at the top of the list. Ha!

  8. Oh man that looks cool! I would definitely fix my phone cord and the cord to my hair straightener. But on the more fun project side, I'd love to attach my power strip to the bottom of my nightstand, and use my little lego to hold my cords!

  9. I love how Sugru lets you fix things that normally would just need to be thrown out. Like their example of fixing the clothes drying rack! Love so many of their ideas!

  10. I want to replace the cheap, junky screws holding my son's bags and hats on the wall in his room with animals like yours…or dinosaurs! I love that. I also NEEEEEEED phone hooks in my kitchen now! Looking at their website is overwhelming because I want to try EVERY SINGLE project! I love the tennis balls to hang shoes on a wall. I also need a shower hook for my razor, that's freaking genius. Basically, I'm sold.

  11. amazing. I loved what you did in evie's room. I would use these on the side of lockers At the sugru website I liked the attachment ease to tile. Perfect for inside the shower area.

  12. I'd like to make a hook for our shower sea sponge to hang on, so it would dry better between uses! My kids would like the animal hooks, too!

  13. Love sugru! Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Sugru works great to replace missing feet on small appliances. My next project though is patching an inflatable kayak.

  14. I have some bathroom projects I've been putting off because I'm scared to drill tile. It sounds like Sugru will solve my problem. :)

  15. OK! This product is amazing and I can already think of a zillion projects using it. Thanks for the chance.

  16. I have never heard of sugru. How amazing! I love the agate pulls you made. I'd love to hear how they hold up. Of their projects, I have uses right away for cord control and repairing broken toys.

How strong is it? Is it removable?

  17. How have I not heard of this??? I can finally hang hooks on the cement walls of our playroom. I am way too excited about this.

  18. Bathroom! Using it to create hooks, etc. I have no storage in their and those suction cup things fall off my tile.
