Give Away: Abstract Painting by Jessie Mackay

Michael and I have a goal of bringing more art into our home over the next couple of years. I’ve mentioned before how it can be a little daunting to know where to start looking for artists. But have you ever been searching, and then all at once an artist’s collection or piece of art…

Michael and I have a goal of bringing more art into our home over the next couple of years. I’ve mentioned before how it can be a little daunting to know where to start looking for artists. But have you ever been searching, and then all at once an artist’s collection or piece of art just sings to you? Your heart is doing backflips and your mind is racing? That happens to me a lot in museums, where I feel a connection with an artist, but it’s (obviously!) harder to find that in the art market in a real and affordable way.

I’m so, so thrilled to share today’s (HUGE) give away from acclaimed artist and philanthropist, Jessie Mackay, and artist who makes my heart sing. Her work has been praised by NYT art critics and hangs in celebrity homes (check out her paintings in James Carville and Mary Matalin’s home featured in Architectural Digest). Here are a few of my favorites currently available on Jessie’s site.

Today she is generously offering up this 24×30 gallery-wrapped abstract painting called ‘Soft Thoughts.’

Here are some close ups of this lovely painting, just sitting in my loft, waiting to be shipped to your home!

I love the bits of bright, almost neon paint peeking through the soft grays and creams.

Lucky you, there are a couple of ways to enter your name into the pot.
1) Simply leave a comment on this post sharing where you would hang ‘Soft Thoughts’ in your home.

2) Like Jessie Mackay Art on Facebook and leave a comment on this post saying so.

3) Pin your favorite Jessie Mackay art from her site and leave a comment on this post saying so.

The winner will be chosen at random from the comments here on July 25 at midnight. Good luck!

****CONGRATS TO WINNER JAMIE LUNT! THANK YOU ALL FOR ENTERING****

  1. I would hang this beautiful art in my dining room. It is in the middle of the house so you would be able to see it from the kitchen, the living room, the entry…it is so pretty!

  2. what a beautiful painting! It would look stunning in my entrance hallway, where I have a collage of eclectic paintings, photos and framed mirrors

  3. I love the feeling of this painting and the title which so captures that feeling. The softness holds bursts of energy. Because of this evocativeness, I would hang it in my office where it would remind me that the flames of creativity are best encouraged when I soften rather than push hard for them to appear.

  4. Probably over the mantle in our (drum roll please) new home! We're saving a guest room for you…(Or two or three if we're lucky enough to have Michael and the girls too!)

  5. I would put it in our foyer so everyone could see it right as they walked into our home. I've liked her on Facebook and I pinned 'Pink Tulips' among her lovely works.

  6. Beautiful painting! I would hang it in my bedroom which has been last on the list of decorating to do's but the colors are perfect.

  7. I really love this painting and it would look amazing in my bedroom. Fingers crossed! July 25th just happens to be my 20th wedding anniversary also.

  8. There is a space calling for this gorgeous painting in my living room. Thanks so much for your wonderful blog, outstanding taste and ideas!

  9. I liked Jessie's site on FB. I would hang this is our newly painted living room which has been waiting for the right piece to complete it. I fell in love with her painting Big Bay in Castaga, Tobago and will purchase that for another area awaiting the perfect piece. Love the staging of this painting. The movement of the creams and grays surround the vivid colors that are drawing me in for a simultaneous happiness and soothing feeling. Kudos to you both!

  10. I would hang it over my bed so that every morning when I'm getting ready for work I could admire it

  11. I would hang this painting in the spare room that my husband generously let me turn into a dressing room. We painted the walls a dark graphite grey so the soft colors of this painting would really pop. (Crossing my fingers!)

  12. oh my goodness her art is beautiful! her color palette and style is so dreamy. I would love to hang this up in the living room of my future apartment. I liked her on facebook and pinned one of her paintings! now crossing my fingers for this amazing work of art (:
