Give Away: Abstract Painting by Jessie Mackay

Michael and I have a goal of bringing more art into our home over the next couple of years. I’ve mentioned before how it can be a little daunting to know where to start looking for artists. But have you ever been searching, and then all at once an artist’s collection or piece of art just sings to you? Your heart is doing backflips and your mind is racing? That happens to me a lot in museums, where I feel a connection with an artist, but it’s (obviously!) harder to find that in the art market in a real and affordable way.

I’m so, so thrilled to share today’s (HUGE) give away from acclaimed artist and philanthropist, Jessie Mackay, and artist who makes my heart sing. Her work has been praised by NYT art critics and hangs in celebrity homes (check out her paintings in James Carville and Mary Matalin’s home featured in Architectural Digest). Here are a few of my favorites currently available on Jessie’s site.

Today she is generously offering up this 24×30 gallery-wrapped abstract painting called ‘Soft Thoughts.’

Here are some close ups of this lovely painting, just sitting in my loft, waiting to be shipped to your home!

I love the bits of bright, almost neon paint peeking through the soft grays and creams.

Lucky you, there are a couple of ways to enter your name into the pot.
1) Simply leave a comment on this post sharing where you would hang ‘Soft Thoughts’ in your home.

2) Like Jessie Mackay Art on Facebook and leave a comment on this post saying so.

3) Pin your favorite Jessie Mackay art from her site and leave a comment on this post saying so.

The winner will be chosen at random from the comments here on July 25 at midnight. Good luck!

****CONGRATS TO WINNER JAMIE LUNT! THANK YOU ALL FOR ENTERING****

  1. Love this painting with it's soft grays accented by sparks of color. It is a thoughtful piece that would be perfect hanging above my fireplace.

Thank you for this wonderful giveaway.

  2. The painting is gorgeous. I would hang it in my dinig room where the art is all thrift store stuff. Cool, but too granny. Needs some modern/ abstract action.

  3. Wow, thank you for featuring her on your site! This painting is beautiful. I would hang it in my bedroom or even in the kitchen, to add interest (and it's the most used room in the house). But I would most likely gift it to my parents–it would look amazing hanging above these giacometti tables in their bedroom (and they are wonderful!)

  4. Love the soft but not totally muted color! I pinned and liked and I would LOVE to hang the giveaway piece in my hall outside my den – a little peace to look at from the chaos of toys;)

  5. Well, I live in a one-room cabin on a farm, so I don't have much of a choice as to where to hang. But, I'd hang it on my west-facing wall next to my bed :-)

  6. Just bought my first home that is waiting to be filled with art! I would walk around and see where it best fit, but somewhere that everyone can see how lovely it is!

  7. I'd give this piece a home in my living room, but I think it could fit in just about any room in my home! Liked on facebook, and pinned Monarch to my Art pinboard. It blends right in with other inspirations I've been pinning recently – I love this kind of work!

  8. OOO! I would hang this in my bedroom. About to paint the space a light grey/green, and I think this has the perfect amount of soothing and pop. Love it.

  9. Oh Jenny, Jessie Mackays paintings are stunning and this one would look amazing in my dining room against my dark BM Hale Navy walls!!!

  10. 1. I would hang soft thoughts in my entry way. Such a beautiful way to greet guests when they walk in!
    2. I liked her on FB.
    3. Pinned her "Holden beach" painting…definitely would hang this over my bed.

  11. So gorgeous! I'm moving to Philadelphia in a few weeks and would LOVE to hang it in my new, airy bedroom.

    Pick me, pick me! :)
