Hungry Prints and Art in the Kitchen

Check out these gorgeous, graphic letterpressed prints Abbey and her shop partner printed themselves in Williamsburg. Lots of people don’t think about putting art in their kitchen, but I think it adds personality and life to an otherwise pretty sterile, functional space.
Those little nooks in kitchens or the empty space on the sides of our cabinets or appliances? Perfect little spots for a piece of interesting art or two!

If you have absolutely no hanging space, try leaning your art on the counter or open shelving, or layer it behind you sugar jar!

We have some dead space above our refrigerator that’s just screaming for fun art! I think I’m going to order this one. The fun part will be figuring out how to fill in the blank! I love the pancake idea Abbey shows here, and of course there’s tons of family inside joke potential!
How would you fill in the blank? :)

  1. Would you frame with glass and use a dry erase marker? Or is that totally cheesey? Of course, above a fridge would be a lot of work. I do love those prints. I'm sure that they're more beautiful in person.

Thanks for all that you do. I enjoy our mornings together…lol!

  2. I think art in then kitchen is a must-have. It makes it feel like a real part of the home, not just a room that's where you cook. Love these images you've found…thank you for sharing.

  3. DARK CHOCOLATE + RED WINE = LOVE! I love art in the kitchen (and not only my kids') – we have a oversized French poster hanging on the wall but I love the idea of using the side of the cupboards to have smaller pieces lined up vertically – genius! Thanks for the inspiration, Cynthia

  4. Cute shop! I agree with you. Art in the kitchen makes it cozy and more a part of the home. Art and rugs and even table lamps add so much to a kitchen.

  5. We just remodeled our kitchen and it's all light and creamy which I love, but it really needs some art. I've felt like there isn't enough wall space, but after seeing your post, I think I'm inspired to make it happen!

  6. i'd probably say food = love, as the original…

purely because there are too many loves of mine, but food is on top, i think.

ahh, so much inspiration with this post! thank you! :)

  7. LOVE those prints- so fresh!!
and I love the idea of making a kitchen more like a living room!

    Mine would say
    FAMILY DANCING=LOVE:)

  8. Love it! Our kitchen is all white with a shabby vintage feel but we added large framed fashion photography to add a modern touch.

  9. I think art anywhere and everywhere you can squeeze it in is my idea of _______=Love! Also, I was out thrifting the other day and saw a PAIR of framed art pieces that you would've loved. The had a different bird in each with a sort of chinoserie background to them. Hard to explain but they reminded me of the panels you just hung behind the plexi and would've gone amazing with your new rug. AND I think they were less than $40 for the pair. Wish I had taken a pic for you :( so you could've drooled over them from afar. Thanks again for a little bit of daily inspiration!

  10. I'm a HUGE fan of art in the kitchen (actually, art in general)! I laughed when I came across this post because I had the exact same post (art in kitchen) set to post today, but then changed it to post Monday (I needed to post something else today). I also LOVE art in the bathroom for the exact same reasons. Great job!

  11. I love art in the kitchen as long as it doesn't go overboard – I completely disagree that kitchens are the new living rooms and should be styled in the same way! Kitchens should be beautiful but still maintain some feeling of utility. A space that is easily cleaned and clutter free.
