Ikea has some great synthetic Persian patterned rugs that are really affordable. I think I paid $60 for a 5×7 that is very cushy, and if I have to toss it in a few years I won't mind too much. Plus, the intricate pattern makes it hard to see if it gets a little stained or picks up some lint.

My kitchen has an eerily similar layout, and I have been daydreaming of throwing a bucket of white paint on it for some time–this is really sealing the deal for me.

Wow. My jaw literally dropped. We have cabinets much like these, and I've been wanting to paint or restain them…I hadn't even considered adding crown molding. Beautiful!

For all those asking about sources they are listed at the end of the post. I double checked and they are all there except for:

Someone asked the brand of refrigerator. It is an LG and the grey sides were essential. It is a counter depth fridge. Standard size fridges stick out past the cabinets and counter top a few inches, but counter depth fridges are flush with the counter, which helps keep our narrow kitchen feeling more open, but you lose internal capacity and they are more expensive.

Someone asked about the light bulb in the PB pendant. It is actually a clear bulb too, but it one of the "globe" bulb like used on a vanity light fixture from the 90's. We only like the look of clear glass bulbs when it is turned off, and a standard bulb just seemed to cheapen the pendant light a little.
