I did exactly the same in my kitchen remodel (still in progress) and I love the look of the white subway tile and dark grey grout. I did the work myself as well and I'll never pay a tiler again – it's so much easier than you'd think :) Well done to your mum!

I recently did the same thing in my bathroom renovation (on my blog if you are interested!). I’m really impressed that your mom tiled it herself though. I’d love to get tips on how to remove old tile and put up new tile. I have an ugly backsplash in my kitchen and I’d love to learn how to a DIY update.
