I got a little preview yesterday of the Madeline Weinrib sample sale happening at ABC today through next Monday. There were TONS of great rugs, pillows and fabrics.

My little Gracie Girl, who is not yet six and who has lost FOUR teeth in the past two months (!!!), was my shopping partner in crime. We made a little mommy/daughter date of the outing and indulged in Shake Shack afterwards.

Madeline Weinrib products are not inexpensive, but the designs are gorgeous and the quality is amazing – totally splurge worthy. The 30-70% off at this sale helps too, making a large cotton flatweave about the price of a Pottery Barn rug.

I picked out a couple pillows and rugs for clients and Grace tried her best to convince me on the pink and red chevron tote (close, but no cigar).

Instead I used my motherly powers of persuasion to get G to fall in love with this fun dhurrie. I’ve had my eye on the design for a while now and there was only one of these at the sale. It just happened to be the exact size I needed for the girls room, so we’ll just say it was fate and that I couldn’t say no. Plus, it’s called the Jellybaby Rug. I mean, come on. So cute.

If you’re in the city, stop by the sale ASAP – it’s worth it! If you’re not local, try giving Rick, who is the manager of the clearance basement at ABC, a call and tell him I sent you. They are so helpful and are always willing to ship to other states.

(Heaven on earth, I say…)

  1. I see SO many things that I want in all of those pictures!!! I am going to be in NY this weekend and first part of next week and am going to make this a must stop! Can you suggest more places to visit that are friendly on the wallet and pretty for the home?
I especially love the JellyBaby rug! Would love to find a similar fabric to make some pillows out of it for my baby girl transitioning into a big girl room!

  2. What a gorgeous little shopping partner you have, Jenny! Grace is adorable!

I'm so happy to see that you were finally united with your dream MW rug–"Jellybaby" is one of my favorites. Your girls will love it!

  3. Thanks, guys! We're really excited about the rug! And the sale was pretty amazing. It was like a who's who of decorators down there! I recognized a lot of faces from Elle Decor and House Beautiful. Pretty fancy.

angeinthecountry: It took every ounce of self control in Grace's little body to not dive into that huge pool of pillows! I was pretty tempted myself.

Anon- The pillows were probably the biggest disappointment of the day for me. I was hoping to come and totally clean them out, but they were pricey – most in the $150-$350 range. A significant savings on the retail price, but still not a super easy purchase. I really, really wanted the mauvey/rose silk ikat in the front there. I think that one was $250, so I passed and got the rug for us instead.

  4. I have been wanting the jellybaby Fore, Like Ever! Didn't used to come in a dhurrie, and I couldn't afford the wool version. Spotted it in Lotta Jansdotter's place ages ago.

    Lucky little girlies!

Plus, this makes me miss NYC.

  5. Wowza! That IS a whole lot of textile goodness (and a most adorable daughter).

The woman in the background of the second picture looks an awful lot like Genevieve Gorder's project manager/assistant. I need to stop watching so much HGTV…

  6. Suzanne – the totes were $89, but they're probably gone by now. This was the last of the pink and red zigzag pattern.

    xx

  7. Wow!! What a great sale! Wish I lived closer so that I could take advantage of the beautiful rugs and the sale. Beautiful photo of you and your daughter.

  8. First – your daughter is an adorable bundle of cuteness with a braid. Second, I think I would wet myself if I was surrounded with all those rugs and textiles. These are the moments I am happy I don't live in NYC cause I would be homeless in a box – albeit a chic box.

  9. Jenny – thanks so much for posting this. I had been deciding if it was worth driving into the city today to go to it and now, after seeing your pictures, I think I will have to pack up all the kids and go. Thanks!!

  10. What a fun time! I love pretty much EVERY rug and pillow in your post. I also love Gracie's toothless smile and the cute mommy/daughter picture! So cute!!

  11. Thanks for the update on the pillow prices! I'm glad to save myself a trip because seeing all those would be torture.

Do you have any good alternatives for similar pillows or maybe even similar to john robshaw?

  12. Ugh! It almost pains me to see these photos. There is usually little that can inspire me to live in NYC, but this will do it! That and Brimfield.

Beautiful choice, by the way. I'd have a hard time saying no to everything that would fit in my car!

  13. Thanks for the explanation – I thought I was living "Groundhog's Day" It all makes sense now! Anyways, I think you should have listened to Gracie and gotten the chevron tote! To cute!

  14. Wow–those are wonderful patterns, BUT I avoid dhurrie rugs like the plague. They tend to absorb dirt quickly and are difficult to clean. They are the sirens of decorating, love them, love the look, buy them–but ultimately, they need to be cleaned. They never look as good as they do in the store. I brought back a few dhurries when I was in Istanbul. I know that the day of reckoning is coming.

  15. I'll be in town for Blogfest and this is on our list of "must sees" on Sunday (hope they're open Sundays – must check now.) Thanks for the photos and your rug is adorable!

  16. I love the mom and daughter shopping outing! Can you say approx. how much a pillow costs at the sale? Just want to see if I am even in the ballpark before calling ABC…

  17. Omgosh, I would have died to see this sale. Calif gal, too far away. I did a post yesterday on a great dhurrie I purchased from Wisteria at Ikea prices. It looks very much like MW cotton striped rug. I got a steal at 70% come by and see it on my post!!!! Much cheaper that 1-2 thousand dollars!! I am soooo excited!! Kathysue
