  1. Hi Jenny – great house tour! Can you tell me something? Melanie's tables are "professionally lacquered". Who would I seek out to do that? I've always wondered about that. Thanks!
    – Michele

  2. No Way! I am the ebay seller that sold her the living room curtain fabric. I was so excited to see what they looked like that I had her send me a picture when they were finished. I loved them then, and was so excited to see them again this morning.

  3. Fabulous home tour! I love the fabric swatch on last picture ( 2nd one from center blue and white) anyway to find out if background color is white or off white? Thanks.

  4. GORGEOUS HOME!!! It is so girly and colorful! I love it! (And I'm jealous that your husband let you do it that way!) Thank you for sharing your pics!

  5. I love seeing a house with so many shades of blue. My husband and i are searching for a house right now. The rental we're in is the most awful shade of builder beige. Is it bad that I'm already considering light blue for the bedroom, a brighter blue for the living room, blue accents for the kitchen and a teal for the bathroom? I don't even have a house yet!

  6. I L-O-V-E the accents of pale coral throughout! I think coral must be the granddaughter of The-Golden-Girls Peach! (did that even make sense?) Melanie's home makes me want to take a deep breath and relax. Beautiful!

  7. Hi Jenny,

The house is beyond lovely and every last detail is just perfect! Lately I've been thinking, however, about how to compromise and create a home that is the perfect balance of feminine and masculine qualities. While I admire the style of the house in the post, I know it would never work for myself and my boyfriend. I thought maybe you could consider a post about how to create a space that would please both genders. Thanks!

  8. Jenny, thank you for sharing Melanie's home with us! Melanie, you have a spectacular home! Every room was such a delight to see!

  9. I love Melanie's home. She has such great style. I love her kitchen – the dark walls paired with the oriental rug! Fabulous!! Thanks for sharing!

  10. Such a fun, refreshing and unique home. Thanks for sharing all the references. I love how everything is pulled together, what a beautiful home!

  11. Wow! Beautiful! It's nice to see someone else using Behr paint! We use it in our home and sometimes I feel like I'm a lone wolf.

  12. WOW! Thank you so much for sharing. Her home is so cheerful and beautiful and I love her workspace. I follow Melanie's Blog and I am currently working with her on a project for my living room. She is very kind and a joy to work with. Very talented as well!

    xx

  13. Melanie,
I LOVE your house. Your layout also presents some great solutions for some design dilemmas I have in my house. I was wondering how you wired the TV to go over the fireplace & where you put the components. Congrats on an amazing home.

  14. Is there any possibility of finding out where she got her beautiful white iron bed? I have been looking for a bed exactly like that!

  15. GORGEOUS HOME! All if it is beautiful, but what I am dying over is that lamp. The brass one in the living room. The one that looks like it fell from heaven. It's probably the most awesome vintage find, but in case not, I'd love to know where it came from—it's divine!

  16. Thank you all for the flattering comments. We really love our little house and it's a pleasure to share it on LGN!

Here are a few answers to some of your questions:

@Anonymous re. lacquer – The guy who does all of my painting/lacquering/refinishing of furniture is a cabinet painter by trade. I've also heard that some auto body painters can do furniture. Hope that helps!

@lizziefitz – I'm not sure if you're talking about Chevron Print or Lansdale Bouquet. If you can convo me through Etsy I'd be happy to investigate for you.

@The Mitchell Family – eBay!!! Look for Bamboo or Tole chandelier. There's usually a ton of options. Happy hunting!

@Kristy Lynne – I purchased mine in a local showroom but you can find the Flower Mirror at Tonic Home. Here's a link:

@Anonymous re. the bed – It's the Ikea Leirvik!!! We had to have something visually light since the best place for the bed is in front of our window. This was a great solution, especially at $99!!

  17. I really like this home; the dark kitchen and fantastic rug are my favorite bits. I've given it a go on painting my own furniture and have never been satisfied. Any advice on hiring painters? I'm assuming the pieces were sprayed, how do I find someone to do that? Thanks :)
