I’ve received a couple emails about my mom’s chalkboard.
She simply used this IKEA frame, chalkboard paint on some sheet metal from Home Depot’s roofing section, and a little turquoise paint to highlight the detail in the already-black frame.
I think it’s adorable…
jenny that is so cute! i like that you painted it a bit as well.
Precious!! I love the color too!!! Thanks for sharing!
I painted a little girls letter inside one of these frames, I told the Mom it was kinda "Goth" looking.

love the look of your blog and cannot wait to see your site…might I ask who was the designer?

Fabulous fabulous! And I really love the modern portrayal of those vintage family photos. So fresh!
So cool! So, did you paint it turquoise all over and then rub off the turquaoise around the edges? I have a similarly shaped gold mirror that's looking a little vegas to me lately…
Pam,
She just lightly painted the turquoise over the black, leaving some of the black edges to show through. Though, the wipe off method works great too. The trick there is to work in sections and let the paint dry for just a few minutes before wiping it off on the edges and raised areas. Somehow that little bit of drying time makes the paint job look more realistic or something.
Good luck!
Oh, and PVE, I worked with Ellie from Rainy Day templates for help with the site. She is really great.

I love your blog. Everything is so beautiful. You have such an artistic eye. Can I ask a question? I wanted to make cute throw pillows but don't know where to get cute bright fabric. Do you have any suggestions?
Love this idea!

Love it! I bought one similar to the ikea frame at a thrift store but it's smaller and has a picture frame leg at the back. I want to make it into a holder for all my dangly earrings. I need some sort of metal mesh like chicken wire but much smaller squares. Any ideas where I can find something like that?
