We’re planning on renovating our main bathroom and closet this year, which will likely change the footprint of our bedroom. But we were due for a little bedroom refresh, so I decided to see what I could do with basically just new bedding and art and nightstand styling – all things that would easily translate after making bigger changes later this year. I worked with The Company Store on this little refresh and I’m absolutely obsessed!

I always suggest starting with your rug as a jumping off point in decorating. I bought this antique Chinese rug for $250 years ago, and while it’s seen better days, I still love it. The indigo blue ground color is punchy but still livable and the beige and mauve tones in the pattern were a great jumping off point for my bedding selection.

I challenged myself to pick bedding that wasn’t white, which is often my go-to, just to mix things up a little. The Company Store has these wrinkle-resistant sheets in the prettiest camel color that I chose to pair with a quilt in a similar tone.

I like to have lots of layers on my bed and love having a duvet folded at the foot on my bed. I found this gorgeous dusty blush linen duvet cover to pair with my amazing down insert from The Company Store. The insert has a loop in each corner and the covers all have ties sewn into the inside so you never have the problem of your insert getting bunched up!

While I love making my bed every morning, I’ve simplified my everyday bed styling here to have no decorative pillows at all. My husband likes to sleep with three pillows and I like two, so I styled our regular bed pillows with one in the front with a different sham, so it sort of looks like a decorative pillow. I really like how this looks and functions!

I also added two throws in the room for a little color and texture. I put this cornflower blue waffle blanket on the bed and this GORGEOUS wool plaid throw on our arm chair. I love the combo of floral pattern in the rug and the back shams with the plaid! It’s amazing to me how just changing the bedding makes this space feel completely different and new without having to get any new furniture!

  1. It looks great! Where is the art behind the bed from? I find it so challenging to find pieces in that shape, and that one is so pretty!

  2. Hi, this room is beautiful. I was just wondering if the plant behind the chair is faux or real and where it’s from? Thanks

  3. Hi – looks lovely! Can you specify the color of the sheet you used. There a couple in that color range on the link, bun non named “camel” Thanks!

  4. hi jenny- as always, beautiful! curious what pillows you use? we just upgraded to a king and need a sleeping pillow refresh, but oh my gosh- so many options! decision paralysis! any tips/recs would be awesome!

    1. Hi Jessica! We have a mix of different pairs. Some are down and others are down alternative, which holds it’s shape more during the night. I think it’s about personal preference for sleeping!

  5. Where is your bed from? And this may be silly, but do like/dislike a canopy bed? I’ve wanted to make the switch, but always worry I’ll be annoyed by the posters when watching TV, etc. Thanks!

    1. It’s from Restoration Hardware. We’ve had it for about five years and still love it. I think canopy beds work best in rooms with ceilings higher than 9′ – ours are closer to 14′ and the bed helps bring the scale back down a bit!

  6. Those nightstand are so dreamy ❤️ Where could one find those or something similar? Thanks

  7. Where did you get the 22 x 55 size frame from? I know you painted it with gold paper ( so beautiful and unique) but wanted to know where to find the frame of that size.

    1. Its the IKEA Bjorksta frame with a Juniper Print Shop print! More details coming next week when we launch this collection!

  8. So, so good!! Can you share the source for the accordion plug in sconces?? I swear I looked around for the link on the blog first! ;)

  9. I love it so much! So simple and classic, yet looks so interesting with all the details and finishes. I have a question about your pillows… do you just sleep on the shams? Seems silly to ask, but I am wondering how to decrease the number of decorative pillows in my own room! Thanks!

    1. Casey I was just wondering the same thing! It looks like the only sham comfortable enough to sleep on would be the floral ones??

      1. I do sleep on the floral shams mostly but actually really love linen sheet too! These are soft and have a really small weave.

    2. Hi Casey! All of these are soft! The blush and natural linen shams in the front have a small, tight weave. I do usually use the floral one for sleeping on directly though. I like using all king sized pillow here so we don’t have to fuss with a lot of extra decorative pillows when we make our bed. :)

  10. I may have missed it, but do you recall where you purchased your arm chair? I love its shape and legs…in the market for a comfy, cute one like yours! Beautiful room!

  11. Hello! I think your walls are Classic Gray. If so, what paint color did you use on the baseboards/door trims? Do you think Swiss Coffee go well with Classic Gray?

  12. Hi Jenny! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous bedroom. Can you tell me what the upholstery fabric is on the settee at the end of your bed? I have a similar one and am currently shopping for fabric to have it recovered. I love it! Thanks!

    1. Hi Nicole! It is a Kelly Wearstler for Groundworks/Lee Jofa linen and I think the pattern is called Katana? Hope that helps!

  13. I love love love this bed, I am in the process of ordering it but so torn what fabric to pick from! I love the color you have, do you by chance know the name of the fabric you went with? Thank you!!
