A little while back I bought this cool bench along with a couple other things from one of my favorite vintage dealers just outside the city. Later I realized the bench is actually from Worlds Away (ha!) but no harm done because there were no claims to age on the bench and I didn’t pay much ($50-$75, I think).
I love the square base!
The seat was covered in a chocolate velvet that bugged me. I never loved the shade (it was a very pinky brown) and somehow it showed every little finger smudge from my kids. I’ve been planning on picking up some leather to reupholster the bench but hadn’t had a chance to swing into Global Leathers yet. So last week when I stopped by my upholsterer’s shop and I saw this leopard printed cowhide in the remnant bin, I jumped all over it. Won’t this be great for the bench? I think the dots and the gold of the base will be so pretty together next to my new rugs and layered under this parsons console.
The pattern reminds me of one of my favorite wallpapers, Thibaut’s Tanzania Animal Spots.
Meredith Heron used the pattern in her office here. So, so good! I love this space.
This bench has MAJOR potential. I am so jealous of your find. I am totally on the hunt for something of a similar look. The leopard is the perfect pattern to set this baby off!
Love it! What a great find and that animal print is going to just pop against the gold frame. I'm obsessed with gold and brass right now, so I'm totally crushing on this bench.lol

I actually don't mind the pink brown, but I LOVE the spotted hide. Gorgeous. Will be great with that square base
I love it, and I don't think I know what World's Away is.
It's beautiful now as it is, but it's going to be a "looker" once it's redone in the spotted cowhide.
I like the animal print for the bench but for an entire room is just too busy for me.

World's Away is pricey so although it isn't an antique, you got a super bargain! I am interested to see how you upholster the bench using a thicker material (the cow hide). Leathers are tough for me to keep smooth when recovering chairs/benches.

The base on that bench is killer! So many good things in this post- brass lines, spotted walls and a leopard cowhide… I have never seen that wallpaper! That's the stuff of my dreams right there!

I just saw a similar cowhide with this print for $150. Do you think that is a good price? I love it but opted for a more masculine plaid fabric to re-upholster a $10 ottoman a friemd found for me at a thrift store.
I might go back for the cowhide though.
